Philadelphia-based Pepper Hamilton has launched a law school diversity initiative at Villanova University School of Law that will include two full scholarships each year for minority law students based on merit and financial need. The law firm also will hire two of the school’s minority students each year, first as summer associates and then as part-time law clerks during their second and third year of school. In addition, Pepper Hamilton and Villanova each summer will conduct a six-week program for undergraduates from historically black colleges introducing them to the possibility of a legal career. Vermont Law School has received $1.8 million from the U.S. Agency for International Development to enable the school and its partner institution, Sun Yat-Sen University School of Law, located in the Guangzhou and Zhuhai regions of China, to provide training in environmental law. The grant, the largest in Vermont Law School’s history, will support a program that focuses on environmental regulation and enforcement in a global context. Law School Movers is compiled and written by Leigh Jones. Please send material to her at The National Law Journal, 105 Madison Ave., New York, N.Y. 10016, or [email protected]
