Former Covington & Burling associate Robert Wone, 32, was stabbed to death Aug. 2 in a Dupont Circle row house. Wone, who spent the past six years working in employment and commercial real estate law at Covington, had recently joined Radio Free Asia as general counsel. An Oakton, Va., resident, Wone was active in the legal community and was to be installed as president of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington D.C. Area later this month. “He was probably the best person I knew,” says Janet Shih Hajek, current president of the association and an associate at Greenberg Traurig. “[Wone] was amazing, noble, generous, intelligent, and yet humble. . . . He had the brightest future of anyone I know.” At press time, D.C. police had made no arrests in the case. “[Robert] was a wonderful person who was highly regarded as a lawyer and was loved as a person by everyone at the firm,” Stuart Stock, chairman of Covington’s management committee, said in a statement released by the firm last week. Wone is survived by his parents and wife Katherine.
