BRYANT MILLER OLIVE Bryant Miller Olive hired Keirston Woods, 27, as an associate in its public finance, real property, affordable housing, and corporate trust & default practices. She was previously an associate at Webster, Fredrickson & Brackshaw and has also served as associate general counsel to the housing authority of Prince George’s County, Md. Woods received her J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
DLA PIPER RUDNICK GRAY CARY Edwin Bowman has joined DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary as the firm’s eastern regional manager of diversity. In this position, Bowman, 61, will lead the development of diversity programs, facilitate training efforts, and track the progress of diversity programs for the firm’s offices in Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Tampa, Raleigh, N.C., Atlanta, and Northern Virginia. He was previously a diversity manager at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Bowman received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Fisk University in Nashville.
DOW LOHNES Dow Lohnes has hired Bruce Wieder as a partner in its media and information technologies group. Wieder comes to Dow Lohnes from Burns, Doane, Swecker & Mathis, where he was a partner focusing on intellectual property matters. He also is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center. Wieder, 50, earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.
FISH & RICHARDSON Kerri Griffin has joined Fish & Richardson as an associate in its regulatory and government affairs group. Griffin, 30, was previously an associate at Venable. She focuses on the telemarketing, sweepstakes and contests, and e-commerce industries. Griffin received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
FULBRIGHT & JAWORSKI Fulbright & Jaworski has brought Jonathan Franklin aboard as a partner. He will be the head of the firm’s Supreme Court practice group and will be leading the appellate practice group. Franklin, 42, joins the firm from Hogan & Hartson, where he was a litigation partner. He has argued five cases before the Supreme Court. Franklin earned his J.D. from Yale Law School.
GREENBERG TRAURIG Larry Harris, 56, joined Greenberg Traurig as a partner in its construction litigation and government contracts practices. He was previously a partner at DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary. Harris is experienced in contract negotiation, dispute resolution, and assistance to government contractors. He earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
HALLORAN & SAGE Halloran & Sage hired Daniel Blumenthal as an associate. He will focus on government contracts, insurance law, commercial litigation, and franchise law. Blumenthal, 31, came to Halloran & Sage from the Goldstein Law Group, where he was an associate. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law.
NIXON PEABODY Nixon Peabody promoted Laurin Mills to managing partner of the firm’s D.C. office. Mills, a litigator in the technology and intellectual property group, replaces former managing partner Tina Wilcox, who now heads Nixon Peabody’s national real estate practice. Mills, 40, focuses on complex civil cases and white-collar criminal defense. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
POLSINELLI SHALTON WELTE SUELTHAUS Polsinelli Shalton Welte Suelthaus added two partners to its recently opened D.C. office. E. Michael Flanagan joined the firm’s health care practice from Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he was a partner. He focuses on all aspects of health care regulatory matters. Flanagan, 55, earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School. J. Michael Cornett, 43, leads the firm’s international tax practice and is a partner in the St. Louis and D.C. offices. He was previously a partner at Miller & Chevalier and has been counsel to the associate chief counsel (international) of the Internal Revenue Service. Cornett earned his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
SEYFARTH SHAW Two partners have joined Seyfarth Shaw. Ernest Stern joined the firm’s corporate group. He was previously a partner at Schiff Hardin, where he headed the firm’s business and technology group. Stern, 56, focuses on corporate and securities transactions. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. James Banks, 48, joined Seyfarth Shaw’s labor and employment practice. He was previously a partner at McGuireWoods. A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, Banks has served as a City Council member and as vice mayor of Richmond.
STERNE, KESSLER, GOLDSTEIN & FOX Mark Evens has come aboard at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox as a partner in its litigation practice. Evens is experienced in intellectual property litigation, including patent infringement, copyright, and trademark cases. He was a partner at Thelen, Reid & Priest. Evens, 56, received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. — Marisa McQuilken
