UPDATES David E. Moran has joined Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle as counsel in the firm’s Stamford, Conn., office. Moran was previously the founder, president and CEO of Dow Jones Indexes after rising to deputy general counsel and vice president of Dow Jones & Company. He will focus on corporate, media and investment management law and has experience supervising litigation, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and collaborating with tax, ERISA and accounting experts. Day, Berry & Howard has opened a new office in Washington to support its growing energy practice and has expanded its New York office, adding two commercial trial lawyers, one counsel and two associates. New partner Richard M. Lorenzo and counsels Arthur W. Adelberg and Jay Matson will lead the new Washington office. New partners M. Alexander Bowie II and James G. Szymanski have joined, along with three colleagues, the firm’s commercial litigation practice in its New York office. Venable litigation partner Bruce Parker has been named president of The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), an organization of senior defense attorneys representing the world’s largest corporations, succeeding Greg M. Lederer. Parker has been a three-year member of the IADC’s board of directors and has previously served as director of the organization’s trial academy. His practice focuses on product liability and toxic tort litigation, working specifically with the pharmaceutical and health care industries. New arrivals Proskauer Rose (New York): Two attorneys join the firm’s Boston office-as partner, Peter J. Antoszyk (corporate finance), and as senior counsel, Michael K. Harrington (mergers and acquisitions/private equity). Antoszyk was previously a partner in the bankruptcy and finance practices of Boston’s Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels. Harrington was a partner in the business law department of Boston’s Goodwin Procter. New partners Bracewell & Giuliani (Houston): Mickey R. Davis comes on board as partner and head of the wealth-management practice in the firm’s Houston office. He was previously with Mickey R. Davis & Associates. Foley & Lardner: Christopher Kise comes on board as partner in the litigation department and white-collar practice in the firm’s Tallahassee, Fla., and Tampa, Fla., offices. Kise will also chair the firm’s national appellate practice. For the past three years he has served as Florida’s solicitor general. Goodwin Procter (Boston): Jeff A. Hess joins the private equity practice as partner in the firm’s New York office. He was previously principal legal counsel for Second Solutions Inc., a family-operated home health care and staffing company. Kilpatrick Stockton (Atlanta): Keith Harper joins the litigation department as leader of the Native American Affairs team as partner in the firm’s Washington office. He was previously a staff attorney at the Native American Rights Fund. Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps (San Diego): Charlotte Ito joins the family wealth and exempt organizations practice group as partner in the firm’s San Francisco office. She was previously of counsel to San Francisco’s Steefel, Levitt & Weiss. New counsel Phelps Dunbar (New Orleans): M. Carole Brand joins the gaming practice as counsel to the firm’s Jackson, Miss., office. She was previously vice president and general counsel at MGM Mirage Properties. Laterals Burns & Levinson (Boston): Peter F. Zupcofska joins the probate and trust litigation and divorce and family law groups as partner. He was previously a partner at Bingham McCutchen. DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary: Michael Barron joins the corporate and securities practice group as partner in the firm’s Boston office. He was previously a partner at Nixon Peabody. Dow, Lohnes & Albertson (Washington): Bruce Wieder joins the media and information technologies practice group as partner in the firm’s Washington office. He was previously a partner at Burns, Doane, Swecker & Mathis. Duane Morris (Philadelphia): John Catalano joins the real estate practice group as partner in the firm’s Miami office. He was previously a partner at Miami’s Tew Cardenas. Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (Los Angeles): James A. Cox joins the English labor and employment law practice as partner in the firm’s London office. He was previously a partner at Ashurst of London. Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe: Two attorneys join the firm’s New York office as partners-Antonios C. Backos (corporate) and Paul Gupta (intellectual property). Backos was previously a partner at New York’s Healy & Baillie. Gupta was previously a partner and practice leader at Chicago’s Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw. Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker: Kevin Fisher joins the corporate department as partner in the firm’s New York office. He was previously a partner at White & Case.
