Hewlett-Packard Co. said Monday it developed a miniature wireless data chip that could be stuck on or embedded in almost any object, and make available information and content now found mostly on electronic devices or the Internet.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based hardware and software company said the tiny chip’s potential uses include storing medical records on a hospital patient’s wristband, adding security to identity cards and passports, and providing audiovisual supplements to postcards and photos.
