DIALOG QUANTUM INFOSTAR AWARD Kelley Martin, a law librarian at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein and Fox, accepted the Dialog Quantum InfoStar Award at the Special Libraries Association’s annual conference, held in Baltimore on June 12. The award is given to those who demonstrate professional leadership in providing information services. Martin is a member of the Law Librarians Society of the District of Columbia and the American Association of Law Libraries. She earned her master’s in library and information science from the Catholic University of America.
INDUSTRY TRADE ADVISORY CENTER Julia McCalmon, a partner at Thompson Hine, was appointed to the Industry Trade Advisory Center’s (ITAC) Committee on Customs Matters and Trade Facilitation. A public-private partnership jointly managed by the Department of Commerce and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, ITAC engages business leaders in developing U.S. trade policy. McCalmon focuses her practice on international trade, with an emphasis on defending importers and exporters in enforcement actions, investigations, and audits brought by the U.S. government. She will serve a two-year term with ITAC. McCalmon received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
MCCORMACK AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE George Crawford, a senior government relations adviser at King & Spalding, received the McCormack Award for Excellence, which honors longtime employees of the House of Representatives. Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) presented the award on June 22. Crawford, a 24-year veteran of Capitol Hill, served as Pelosi’s chief of staff and worked for 20 years on the House Rules Committee. — Marisa McQuilken and Ben Sullivan
