CROWELL & MORING Crowell & Moring has partnered with James Jordan III, 49, to enhance its privacy and data protection group. Jordan’s firm, Jordan Legal Counsel, will work as co-counsel with Crowell & Moring to help clients achieve compliance with privacy and personal-data protection laws both domestically and globally. Jordan previously served as chief privacy leader and senior counsel for e-commerce and information technology at General Electric. He earned his J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law.
DICKSTEIN SHAPIRO MORIN & OSHINSKY Brian Finch has come aboard at Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky as counsel. He will head the public policy and law group’s new homeland security practice. Finch, 31, specializes in homeland security, federal regulatory matters, and government affairs. Before joining Dickstein Shapiro, Finch was an associate at McKenna Long & Aldridge in Washington, D.C., and a legal intern at the Justice Department, where he also focused on homeland security. He earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
HARMON, CURRAN, SPIELBERG & EISENBERG James Lamb, previously a partner at Ryan, Phillips, Utrecht & MacKinnon, has joined Harmon, Curran, Spielberg & Eisenberg as counsel. Lamb, 41, focuses on federal and state election law and on ethics issues. He has served as campaign manager for candidates for federal and state office and as minority counsel for the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee’s special investigation of the 1996 federal election campaign. Lamb received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School.
JACK H. OLENDER & ASSOCIATES Annamaria Steward, 33, has joined Jack H. Olender & Associates as an associate. Steward was previously a law clerk for former Chief Judge Annice Wagner of the D.C. Court of Appeals. She also serves as secretary of the Washington Bar Association and produces and hosts a local cable television show, “DC Law Today.” Steward earned her J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
KATZ, MARSHALL & BANKS Partners Debra Katz, David Marshall, Lisa Banks, and Ari Wilkenfeld, along with senior associate Avi Kumin, associates Justine Andronici and Nicole Williams, and of counsel Gary Peller, make up the new firm Katz, Marshall & Banks. The firm focuses on plaintiffs’ employment, civil rights, and consumer issues. Katz specializes in employment law and was a partner at Bernabei & Katz prior to forming the new firm. She serves as a faculty member of the American Law Institute-American Bar Association and Georgetown University Law Center’s Continuing Legal Education program. Katz, 48, received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Marshall, 52, was most recently of counsel at Bernabei & Katz. He focuses on consumer class actions and employment discrimination. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Banks specializes in disability law. She was previously a partner at Bernabei & Katz. She also has served as an appellate attorney with the Office of General Counsel of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Banks, 38, earned her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturn College of Law. Wilkenfeld, 35, concentrates on employment discrimination, employment contracts, and noncompete issues. Prior to joining Katz, Marshall & Banks, he was a partner at Bernabei & Katz. Wilkenfeld received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Kumin, 32, specializes in employment-discrimination litigation, family and medical leave issues, and whistle-blower claims. A graduate of Yale Law School, he was previously a senior associate at Bernabei & Katz. Andronici focuses on women’s and employees’ rights issues. She previously served as a senior attorney at the Maryland Women’s Law Center and as a consultant to feminist organizations. Andronici, 34, earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Williams, 28, focuses on civil rights litigation. Before joining Katz, Marshall & Banks, she was an associate in the litigation section at Buchanan Ingersoll in Philadelphia. She received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law. Peller is a professor at Georgetown University Law Center. He focuses on constitutional law, torts, contract law, and consumer law. At Katz, Marshall & Banks, Peller, 50, will focus on consumer class actions and constitutional law. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
SULLIVAN & CROMWELL Daryl Libow has been named managing partner of Sullivan & Cromwell’s D.C. office. Libow, 46, joined the firm in 1986 and has been a partner since 1994. He advises on commercial-litigation matters and focuses much of his practice on individual and corporate clients in connection with government enforcement actions and congressional investigations and hearings. Libow also serves as chair of Human Rights First’s D.C. council. He earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School. — Marisa McQuilken
