Following Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati’s lead, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo will close its Reston, Va., outpost in mid-June. The office, which opened in 1999, housed eight partners. Cherie Kiser, the firm’s Washington managing partner, says it has been re-evaluating the Reston market for a couple of years. Five partners, including former Reston managing partner David Barmak, plan on moving to Mintz, Levin’s D.C. office. Corporate partners Mark Wishner, Scott Meza, and Steve McVearry opted out and instead have joined Greenberg Traurig’s Tysons Corner, Va., office. . . . The revolving door continues at the recently merged DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary. Tax partner Susan Temkin jumped ship to Patton Boggs. DLA Piper also added 18-year Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld labor and employment lawyer Joseph Turzi. . . . Debevoise & Plimpton upped its head count, adding SEC veteran Paul Berger. Most recently, Berger served as associate director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement. The move beefs up Debevoise’s white-collar practice, which took a hit last year when Ralph Ferrara jumped to LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae. . . . Thomas Barnett, the Department of Justice’s assistant attorney general for the Antitrust Division, tapped his former Covington & Burling partner David Meyer last week to take over as deputy assistant attorney general for civil enforcement. Meyers, who has repped companies such as Exxon Mobil Corp. and the Union Pacific Railroad Co., worked in that division from 1987 to 1989.
