UPDATES Lerner, David, Littenberg, Krumholz & Mentlik (Westfield, N.J.): Alfred J. Lechner Jr. joins the litigation practice as partner. Most recently vice president and chief counsel litigation at Tyco International Ltd., Lechner served for more than 15 years as a U.S. district judge for the District of New Jersey. Prior to his federal appointment, he served for two years as a judge on New Jersey Superior Court. Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott has created an aviation and aerospace practice in its Washington D.C. office with the addition of five attorneys from Condon & Forsyth. Joining the firm as partners are Evelyn Sahr, Tomas Whalen and John Delaney. Joining as associates are Philip Livingston and Meghan Molinini. Eckert Seamans is based in Pittsburgh. New partners Bell, Boyd & Lloyd (Chicago): David P. Glatz rejoins the corporate group as partner. He was most recently an assistant general counsel-securities and governance at Sears Holdings Corp. Chapman and Cutler (Chicago): Thomas C. Hynes and his son, Matthew J. Hynes, have joined the government relations practice group as partners. Thomas C. Hynes is a former assessor of Cook County and president of the Illinois state Senate. Dykema Gossett: Richard G. Goetz comes on board as partner and head of the firm’s new international practice group. He was previously associate general counsel at Ford Motor Co. New counsel Kilpatrick Stockton (Atlanta): Jocelyn Burton joins the employment group as counsel to the firm’s Winston-Salem, N.C., office. She most recently served as chief of the civil division of the U.S. attorney’s office in San Francisco. Whiteford, Taylor & Preston (Baltimore): Eileen Morgan Johnson joins the nonprofit organizations group as counsel to the firm’s Washington office. She served as in-house counsel at the National Wildlife Federation for almost 20 years, the last eight of which were as general counsel and corporate secretary. New arrivals LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae (New York): Two attorneys come on board as partners-in London, Andrew Garard and in New York, Alan B. Howard. Garard was previously at Cable & Wireless PLC, where he served as group general counsel and company secretary responsible for global legal affairs. Prior to that, he was at Reuters PLC as global head of legal and deputy general counsel based in the United Kingdom and general counsel-Asia based in Hong Kong. Howard was previously a partner in the New York and Geneva offices of Chicago’s Winston & Strawn. Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw (Chicago): Three attorneys come on board as partners-in Chicago, Thomas V. Skinner (environmental); in Los Angeles, Cynthia Burch (environmental and regulatory); and in Houston, Marc Folladori (corporate). Skinner most recently served as head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s national compliance program and director of the EPA’s Region 5. As head of the agency’s Region 5, he was responsible for the implementation of federal environmental programs in the Great Lakes states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. Burch was previously a partner at Los Angeles’ Munger, Tolles & Olson. Folladori was previously a partner at Fulbright & Jaworski of Houston. Firm changes Katten Muchin Rosenman: Edward J. Rayner joins the employee benefits and executive compensation practice as partner in the firm’s New York office. He was previously a partner at Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt in New York.
