Most of us are familiar with the stereotypical, irate client who proclaims that he or she will pursue their case “all the way to the Supreme Court!”

In reality, however, the odds of that happening are small. According to the official Web site of the United States Supreme Court, each year, the Court receives thousands of petitions for certiorari, but grants plenary review, with oral argument, in only approximately 100 cases.
