The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District is shuffling its ranks with two new division heads. Rudolph “Rudy” Contreras will rejoin the D.C. office in March as the new head of the Civil Division, and Thomas Hibarger will take over as chief of the Superior Court Division. Hibarger replaces Brad Weinsheimer, who took over the division just 18 months ago but wanted to return to prosecuting cases full time. Weinsheimer will join the Fraud and Public Corruption section and focus on cybercrime. “This is obviously a burgeoning area of the law,” he says. “It is a new wave of crime.” Contreras, who left the D.C. office in 2003 to head the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware, says he is looking forward to coming home. “This is just a better position,” he says, “as far as the size of the office and its stature.”
