An article from the New York Law Journal about the suggestion that Weil, Gotshal & Manges had interfered with an associate’s willingness to help provide bail for her father ["Weil asked to explain bail pledge reversal," Oct. 28] was shortened to five paragraphs in The Recorder that same day, and, in so doing, WGM’s position that the suggestion was totally false was left out. Among other things, the omitted paragraphs pointed out that the firm had been very supportive of the associate as she dealt with this difficult personal situation, that she had confirmed that her decision not to assist with the bail was based upon personal and family considerations having nothing to do with the firm, that she was years away from partnership consideration and that no client of the firm had expressed any concern about the situation. Richard J. Davis partner, Weil, Gotshal & Manges Editor’s note: We should have included the firm’s point of view. We regret the omission.
