NEW PARTNERS Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld: Barry Y. Greenberg joins the private equity and investment funds practice as partner in the firm’s Dallas office. He was previously vice president for legal, compliance and administration at American Beacon Advisors Inc., a wholly owned investment management subsidiary of AMR Corp. Gardere Wynne Sewell (Dallas): Val J. Albright joins the tax services section as partner in the firm’s home office. He had previously worked at the office of the chief counsel for the Internal Revenue Service. NEW COUNSEL Hunton & Williams (Richmond, Va.): David van Hoogstraten joins the regulatory and environmental law practice as counsel to the firm’s Washington office. Most recently, he served as senior negotiator for trade-related environmental agreements in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs of the U.S. State Department. Ferko was previously a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. Drago was previously of counsel to Bingham McCutchen. Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal: Three attorneys come on board as partners-in San Francisco, Jason Altieri (corporate and securities) and Tarek Fahmi (intellectual property); and in Washington, Victoria Rostow (public law and policy strategies). Altieri was previously a partner in the corporate department of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati of Palo Alto, Calif. Fahmi was previously managing partner in the San Jose, Calif., office of Los Angeles-based Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman. Rostow was previously senior vice president and co-head of federal government relations at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
