New Partners Drinker Biddle & Reath (Philadelphia): Guy W. Winters Jr. joins the corporate and securities practice group as partner in the firm’s home office. He was previously a partner and general counsel at PA Early Stage Partners, a family of early stage technology and life sciences venture funds. Katten Muchin Rosenman: Kevin M. Foley joins the financial services practice as partner in the firm’s Chicago office. He has served as chief counsel to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Division of Trading and Markets. Prior to joining the firm, he had maintained his own practice for 11 years. Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton (Los Angeles): W. Kenneth Ferree joins the entertainment and media group as partner to lead the firm’s new communications practice in the firm’s Washington office. Most recently, he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Ferree has also served as chief of the media bureau at the Federal Communications Commission. New Counsel Lowenstein Sandler (Roseland, N.J.): Bruce Shoulson returns to serve as the firm’s first general counsel. He was most recently general counsel of Net2Phone Inc., a publicly held Internet telephony provider. Greenberg Traurig: Two attorneys join the corporate and securities department in the firm’s New York office-as partner, Sylvie Durham; and as of counsel, Nir Yarden. Durham has been an investment banker and head of structured equity products at BNP Paribas. Yarden was a senior vice president at Lehman Brothers and vice president at Salomon Smith Barney. Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold (San Francisco): Two attorneys come on board-in New York, Scott L. Haworth (partner, products liability); and in Newark, N.J., David E. Cassidy (special counsel, employment). Haworth was previously a partner at the New York office of Lester Schwab Katz & Dwyer. Cassidy was previously partner and co-chairman of the labor and employment practice at Florio & Perrucci of Phillipsburg, N.J. Venable (Washington): Two attorneys join the firm’s Washington office-as partner, William Donovan (banking/financial, legislative/government); and as of counsel, Gwendolyn Baker (banking/financial). Donovan was previously general counsel of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU); Baker was director of regulatory affairs at NAFCU. Firm Promotions Debevoise & Plimpton (New York): Kevin C. Lombardi, member of the litigation department, has been named counsel to the firm’s Washington office. Laterals Crowell & Moring (Washington): Christine C. Rinn joins the health care group as partner in the firm’s home office. She was most recently a partner at McDermott Will & Emery. DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary: Richard M. Ornitz joins the finance group as partner in the firm’s New York office. He was most recently co-chairman of the finance practice at Coudert Brothers. Duane Morris (Philadelphia): Suzanne L. Biggs joins the intellectual property practice group as partner in the firm’s San Diego office. She was previously a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Fish & Richardson: Phyllis Kaufman joins the media and entertainment group as of counsel to the firm’s New Yok office. She was previously of counsel to Pryor Cashman Sherman & Flynn of New York. Goulston & Storrs (Boston): Deborah S. Kay joins the private client and trust group as partner in the firm’s home office. She was most recently a partner at Nixon Peabody, where she focused on estate and tax planning. Greenberg Traurig: Amanda Laura Nye joins the intellectual property practice, as of counsel to the firm’s Los Angeles office. Most recently, she served as counsel to the Atlanta office of King & Spalding. King & Spalding (Atlanta): Daniel R. Rogers joins the energy group as partner in the firm’s Houston office. He was previously a partner at Chadbourne & Parke of New York. Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham: Roger S. Wise joins the tax group as a partner in the firm’s Washington office. He was previously a partner at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman: John Mauel and Todd Culwell join the finance practice section as partners in the firm’s Houston office. They were both previously at Baker & McKenzie. Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson (Miami): Charles D. Brecker joins the real estate department as partner in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office.
