GREENBERG TRAURIG William Eck has rejoined Greenberg Traurig as a partner in the health care practice. Most recently, Eck, 48, was chief of health care affairs and general counsel at PolyMedica Corp. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
MCKENNA LONG & ALDRIDGE McKenna Long & Aldridge has added three new associates. Michael Angert, 44, focuses on drafting and prosecuting U.S. origin and Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) patent applications in electrical, computer, and mechanical arts. He has managed the prosecution of extensive U.S., PCT, and international patent portfolios and has drafted patentability studies. He earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Karri Garrett, 35, served as a major in the U.S. Air Force and was an associate deputy general counsel in the Department of Defense Office of the General Counsel, where she advised senior officials on international legal issues that affect the policy decisions of the Defense Department. She earned her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. Ivan Bilaniuk was a summer associate at the firm before working as a law clerk for F. Bradford Stillman, a magistrate judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, in Norfolk. Bilaniuk, 33, received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
VENABLE Claudia Lewis-Eng, 35, has joined Venable as a partner. Lewis-Eng came from Emord & Associates in Washington, where she was a principal. She earned her J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law.
WOMBLE CARLYLE SANDRIDGE & RICE John Brown and Alida Dagostino have joined Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice as associates. Brown, 27, had been with D.C.’s Patton Boggs, where he spent a year as an associate. He is a 2003 graduate of the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law. Dagostino, 30, comes from the D.C. office of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, where she worked for a year as a litigation and labor and employment law associate. She received her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law.
SPIEGEL & MCDIARMID Elaine Lippmann has been hired by Spiegel & McDiarmid as an associate. She practices energy and environmental law and litigation. Lippmann, 31, had been with Hangley Aronchick Segal & Pudlin in Philadelphia, where she was an associate in the litigation department, representing clients in commercial litigation, civil rights, and criminal defense matters. She received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.
HOLLAND & KNIGHT Donald Zarin, 56, has joined Holland & Knight’s international business practice as a partner in the D.C. office. Previously, Zarin was a partner and head of the international trade practice group at Dechert. He received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
WINSTON & STRAWN Connie Bertram and Patricia Exposito have been hired by Winston & Strawn for its labor and employment group. Bertram, 40, recently joined as a partner. She had been a partner at Venable. Bertram focuses on labor and employment litigation and counseling. Additionally, she represents retailers and property management and development companies in disputes with customers, tenants, and homeowners, including discrimination, fair housing, and toxic-exposure complaints. She earned her J.D. from the George Washington School of Law. Exposito, 39, joins as of counsel. Previously, she was an associate at Venable. She earned her J.D. from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. — Nathan Carlile
