COUNCIL FOR COURT EXCELLENCE Several local attorneys have been elected to leadership positions at the Council for Court Excellence. Rodney Page, a partner at Bryan Cave, has been elected president. A. Steven Hut Jr., a partner and vice chair of the Litigation Department at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, has been elected vice president. In addition, the following four individuals are among those who were elected to the council’s Executive Committee for the 2005-06 term: Marc Fleischaker, chairman of Arent Fox; Steven Gordon, a partner at Holland & Knight; Judge Noel Kramer of the D.C. Court of Appeals; and Judge James Robertson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
MILES & STOCKBRIDGE William Stauffer Jr. has been named managing partner of the Tysons Corner, Va., office of Miles & Stockbridge. Stauffer joined the firm last January from the Reston,Va., office of Bracewell & Patterson (now Bracewell & Giuliani).
NATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION Jack Olender, president of Jack H. Olender & Associates, was inducted into the National Bar Association Hall of Fame, which honors lawyers who have made significant contributions to the cause of justice.
NORTHERN VIRGINIA TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL David Nadler, a government contracts partner at Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky, has been appointed to serve a one-year term on the board of directors of the Northern Virginia Technology Council. The council is composed of companies from all sectors of the technology industry, as well as universities, foreign embassies, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. It currently contains more than 1,100 member companies representing about 160,000 employees.
U.S. INSURER Morris, Manning & Martin has been named one of the country’s top 10 law firms serving the insurance industry in U.S. Insurer magazine. The firm was honored for its overall work, with particular recognition in litigation and dispute management. The ranking is based on a survey conducted by Reactions Research, which polled in-house counsel at insurance and reinsurance companies nationwide. The results were published in the June/July issue of the magazine, which primarily serves senior executives of insurers and reinsurers. — Hilary Lewis
