AKIN GUMP STRAUSS HAUER & FELD Paul Butler, 44, has joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld as a partner in the white-collar criminal defense practice. He was the special assistant to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law.
ARNOLD & PORTER Christopher Scott Morrow has joined the McLean, Va., office of Arnold & Porter as a litigation associate. He had been an associate at Jenkens & Gilchrist. Morrow, 34, has a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
DUNCAN, WEINBERG, GENZER & PEMBROKE William Mapes Jr. has joined Duncan, Weinberg, Genzer & Pembroke as of counsel. Mapes, 52, specializes in administrative and energy law, focusing on matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and resulting appellate litigation. Most recently a partner at Duane Morris, he received his law degree from American University Washington College of Law.
FISH & RICHARDSON William Sekyi, 42, has joined Fish & Richardson as an associate in the litigation group. Sekyi, who is focusing on patent litigation, was an associate at Arnold & Porter. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
KENYON & KENYON Marcia Sundeen, 50, has joined Kenyon & Kenyon as a partner specializing in Section 337 intellectual property litigation before the United States International Trade Commission. The former partner at Arnold & Porter received her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
MILES & STOCKBRIDGE Alfred Wurglitz has joined Miles & Stockbridge as a partner focusing on government contracts and technology and services transactions and licensing. He works out of the firm’s Rockville, Md., and Tysons Corner, Va., offices. Wurglitz, 57, previously was a partner at O’Melveny & Myers. He graduated from Loyola Law School.
OFFICE OF THE COMPTROLLER OF THE CURRENCY Sam Ozeck, 31, has joined the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Administrator of National Banks, as a senior attorney in the Enforcement & Compliance Division. Most recently an associate in the mortgage banking group at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham, he received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
PECKAR, ABRAMSON, BASTIANELLI & KELLEY Peckar, Abramson, Bastianelli & Kelley has added two partners. Both were former partners at Thompson & Waldron. Michael Branca, 36, specializes in government contracts and construction law. He received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. William Thompson Jr., a founding partner of Thompson & Waldron, specializes in government contracts, corporate compliance, construction law, and commercial litigation. Thompson, 55, received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
SIDLEY AUSTIN BROWN & WOOD Six lawyers in the D.C. office of Sidley Austin Brown & Wood are among the 28 associates and counsel who were elected to partnership in the firm. All six partners were formerly associates at the firm. Marinn Carlson, 33, a member of the international trade and dispute resolution group, received her J.D. from Yale Law School. Jay Jorgensen, 33, a litigation partner, received his J.D. from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. Eileen Kahaner, 38, a member of the health care group, received her J.D. from the George Washington University Law School. George Parizek, 36, a member of the securities enforcement practice group in the litigation department, received his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law. Anna Spencer, 35, a member of the health care group, received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School. James Stansel, 35, also a member of the health care group, received his J.D. from Yale Law School.
THELEN REID & PRIEST Michael Schloss has joined Thelen Reid & Priest as of counsel in the labor and employment department. Before joining the firm, Schloss, 44, was a senior trial attorney at the Department of Labor. He earned his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University. — Hilary Lewis
