ALSTON & BIRD Edward McClellan, 49, will join Alston & Bird as a partner in the legislative and public policy group. McClellan is currently tax counsel to the Senate Finance Committee. He received his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis.
BALLARD SPAHR ANDREWS & INGERSOLL Sharon Wilson Géno, 38, has joined Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll as a partner in the housing group in the real estate department. She is focusing on affordable housing and real estate transactions, legislative advocacy, general corporate and nonprofit organizations, and administrative law. Before joining the firm, Géno was a partner at Reno & Cavanaugh. She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
BUCKLEY KOLAR Buckley Kolar has added three attorneys. Sara Emley, who joined as a partner, specializes in advising financial services firms on investment adviser, investment company, and broker-dealer regulatory issues. She was previously a counsel at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. Emley, 37, received a J.D. and an LL.M. in international and comparative law from Duke University School of Law. Kirk Jensen, 35, has joined as an associate, focusing on retail financial services. He was previously an associate with Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice in Charlotte, N.C. Jensen also received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. Frederic Spindel, 62, who joined as a partner specializing in corporate and securities transactions and regulation, was most recently a partner at Venable. He received his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
CROWELL & MORING John Ryan, 47, has joined Crowell & Moring’s intellectual property group as a partner. Most recently co-chairman of the intellectual property practice at Dechert, Ryan received his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law and his LL.M. from George Washington University Law School.
MCGUIREWOODS Brent Glenn, 31, has joined the Tysons Corner, Va., office of McGuireWoods as an associate in the real estate and environmental department, where he is focusing on commercial real estate transactions. Glenn was an associate with Mariscal, Weeks, McIntyre & Friedlander in Phoenix. He received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
MORGAN, LEWIS & BOCKIUS William Doyle Jr., 39, has rejoined Morgan, Lewis & Bockius as a partner in the labor and employment law practice and a director in the firm’s Morgan Lewis resources division. Previously the deputy director of the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, Doyle earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
ODIN, FELDMAN & PITTLEMAN Jo Anne Bitner has joined Odin, Feldman & Pittleman as a partner in the real estate & land use practice group. She had been of counsel at Reed Smith. Bitner, 40, received her law degree from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
PAUL, HASTINGS, JANOFSKY & WALKER Laura Flippin, 34, has joined Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker as of counsel in the litigation department. She specializes in civil and criminal-fraud-related claims, government and internal investigations, and securities banking and laws. She was previously a special assistant to the president and executive secretary at the Homeland Security Council. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
PAUL, WEISS, RIFKIND, WHARTON & GARRISON Jonathan Lave has joined Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison as an associate in the litigation department. Lave, 36, was an associate at Shearman & Sterling, where he was a member of the antitrust group. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center.
SHULMAN, ROGERS, GANDAL, PORDY & ECKER Jeremy Schulman, 32, has joined the Rockville, Md., office of Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker as a partner in the commercial litigation department. He is involved in complex commercial litigation matters, international and domestic arbitration, regulatory inquiries, internal investigations, and corporate counseling. The former associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy received his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School.
SONNENSCHEIN NATH & ROSENTHAL Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal has added a managing director to its public law and policy strategies group and two attorneys to its health care practice group. Mathew Lapinski, 25, has joined the firm as a managing director in the public law and policy strategies group. He specializes in federal and state legislative, regulatory, and public policy advocacy on behalf of corporate, trade association, nonprofit, and local government clients. Previously, he worked in the federal government relations office of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America. Ramy Fayed, an associate, was previously an associate at Gardner Carton & Douglas. Fayed, 31, received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. Holley Thames Lutz, 37, who joined as a partner, had been a partner at Gardner Carton & Douglas. She earned her J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
VENABLE Venable has added two partners to its D.C. office. E. Ray Beeman, 38, has joined the taxation practice. Most recently, he was legislation counsel for the Joint Committee on Taxation in the U.S. Congress. Beeman has a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law and an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University School of Law. Emilio Cividanes, 49, who specializes in privacy and information security law, was a partner at DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
WHITEFORD, TAYLOR & PRESTON Thomas Mugavero, 42, has joined the D.C. office of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston as counsel in the litigation department. He previously served in the staff counsel’s office of investment insurance company the Hartford. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
WILMER CUTLER PICKERING HALE AND DORR Stephen Cutler, 43, will rejoin Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr as a partner and co-chair of the securities department. Cutler, who will work in the firm’s D.C. office, will also be a member of the public policy and strategy practice.
