The award is given to a private practitioner or industry or regulatory counsel in recognition of a significant legal accomplishment or pioneering legal strategy. GIBSON, DUNN & CRUTCHER Mark Perry, a partner whose practice focuses on appellate litigation, constitutional law, and commercial disputes, has been appointed co-partner-in-charge of the firm’s D.C. office. LEGAL SERVICES OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA Five area attorneys received the Legal Services of Northern Virginia’s Harry L. Carrico Pro Bono Award: Charles Flinn of Arlington; Karen Leiser, a managing attorney at Leiser & Associates; Bernadette O’Reilly, an associate and vice chair of the family law section at Campbell Miller Zimmerman; Barbara Stough, a partner at Knight & Stough; and George Tuttle Jr., of counsel at the Law Office of Peter T. Straub. The organization provides pro bono legal services in various civil legal areas, including family law, housing law, elder law, public benefits, child advocacy, and employment law. The awards, named for former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia Harry L. Carrico, recognize attorneys and others who have made significant contributions to providing pro bono legal services to local individuals of limited means. MONTGOMERY COUNTY WOMEN’S BAR ASSOCIATION Patricia Weaver, a partner in the litigation and appellate practice groups at Paley, Rothman, Goldstein, Rosenberg, Eig & Cooper, is the new president of the Montgomery County Women’s Bar Association. The association is one of nine chapters of the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland, which was founded in 1929. The association seeks to maintain the honor and integrity of the legal profession, aid in the administration of justice, promote and advance the interests of women involved in the practice of law, and advance the status of women in society. VIRGINIA SPORTS HALL OF FAME John Rodock, a partner in the D.C. office of Ober Kaler Grimes & Shriver, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. The board oversees operations of the organization’s new facility.
