ANDERSON KILL & OLICK Thomas Petty has joined Anderson Kill & Olick as a partner focusing on commercial real estate. Petty, 47, joins the firm from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, where he was counsel. He received his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law. APATOFF PETERS Adam Apatoff and Craig Peters have joined to form Apatoff Peters, a firm designed to counsel businesses and individuals on technology, tax, corporate, and estate planning matters. Apatoff, 33, specializes in complex technology and corporate transactions. He was most recently a partner at Kalik Lewin’s Bethesda, Md., office. He earned his J.D. from Widener University School of Law. Peters, 33, was previously a solo practitioner in Rockville, Md. He earned his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. DORN & KLAMP Shannon Nash, 34, has joined Dorn & Klamp as of counsel specializing in tax-exempt organizations, board governance, corporate foundations, contracting, and general corporate matters. She was most recently a senior tax attorney and legal counsel for Amgen, Inc. and counsel for the Amgen Foundation. Nash received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY LAW CENTER Georgetown University Law Center has announced three new faculty appointments. Barry Carter, 62, has been appointed director of international and transnational programs. Carter was previously a professor of international and antitrust law at the law center. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School. Lawrence Gostin, 55, has been appointed associate dean for research and academic programs. He will be responsible for matters related to faculty research and scholarship and for major issues of curriculum design and innovation. Most recently, Gostin was a professor at the law center, a professor of public health at Johns Hopkins University, and director of the Center for Law and the Public’s Health at Johns Hopkins and Georgetown. Gostin earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. Wendy Collins Perdue, 51, has been appointed associate dean for graduate programs. She will be responsible for the law center’s graduate programs, including its LL.M. programs in international legal studies, taxation, securities and financial regulation, and national securities studies. She was most recently the associate dean for research and the associate dean for the juris doctor program. She received her J.D. from Duke University School of Law. HELLER EHRMAN WHITE & MCAULIFFE David Laub, 37, has joined Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe as a partner in the patents and trademarks practice group. He was most recently a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. Laub received his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. HUNTON & WILLIAMS R. Michael Sweeney Jr., 39, has joined Hunton & Williams’ D.C. office as a partner in the firm’s energy practice. He was most recently a partner in the D.C. office of Troutman Sanders, where he was a member of the firm’s energy practice group. Sweeney received his J.D. from Capital University Law School and his LL.M. from George Washington University Law School. KIRKPATRICK & LOCKHART NICHOLSON GRAHAM H. Russell Frisby Jr., 54, has joined Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham as a partner focusing on telecom issues. He was previously CEO and acting chief legal officer of CompTel. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School. LATHAM & WATKINS David Della Rocca, 34, has joined Latham & Watkins as a partner in the tax department specializing in employee benefits and executive compensation. Rocca was previously a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. He received his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and his LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. MINTZ LEVIN COHN FERRIS GLOVSKY AND POPEO Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo has added three new partners to its D.C. office. Robert Clark, 50, has joined the firm’s health section. Clark was most recently a partner at Reed Smith. He received his J.D. from Howard University School of Law and his LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. Mark Kass, 44, has joined the business and finance section. He was previously a partner at Hogan & Hartson. Kass received his J.D. from Columbia University Law School. Carlos Nalda, 38, has joined the communications and IT section. He was previously a partner at Steptoe & Johnson. Nalda received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. NATIONAL NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION David Jonas, 48, has been named general counsel for the National Nuclear Security Administration. Most recently, he was the NNSA’s acting general counsel. Jonas received his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, an LL.M. in military law from the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in the U.S. Army, and an LL.M. in international and comparative law from Georgetown University Law Center. SQUIRE, SANDERS & DEMPSEY Nina Eldred, 51, has joined Squire, Sanders & Dempsey as of counsel in the global hospitality practice of the firm’s D.C. office. She was most recently assistant general counsel with Marriott International Inc. Eldred received her J.D. from Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. THELEN REID & PRIEST Tom Horton, 50, has joined Thelen Reid & Priest as a partner in the firm’s antitrust practice group in its commercial litigation department. Horton was previously a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. He received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. TROUTMAN SANDERS Alisa Wrase, 29, has joined the Tysons Corner, Va., office of Troutman Sanders as an associate in the firm’s commercial development and real estate investments practice group. Wrase was most recently an associate at the D.C. office of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston. She received her J.D. from Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law. WILKINSON BARKER KNAUER David Solomon, 51, joins Wilkinson Barker Knauer as a partner. He was previously chief of the Enforcement Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission.
