ALSTON & BIRD Alston & Bird has announced three new additions. Mark Costley, 41, joins the firm as counsel in the financial services and products group. Most recently, he was a senior lawyer at the Linsco/Private Ledger Corp. He received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. Paul Martino, 36, joins the legislative and public policy group as counsel. He is former majority counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee. He received his J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, Boalt Hall. Tim Trysla, 38, joins the health care group as counsel. Most recently, he was senior policy adviser at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He graduated from Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. ARENT FOX Arent Fox has added two senior counsel in the government relations practice. Lance Kotschwar, 39, previously was general counsel at the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee. He earned his J.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Law. Gordon Taylor, 36, served as chief of staff to former Rep. Chris John (D-La.). He graduated from George Washington University Law School. COLLIER SHANNON SCOTT Basil Culyba has joined Collier Shannon Scott as counsel in the litigation group. Most recently, Culyba, 56, was a partner at Howrey. He received his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark. DUANE MORRIS Roberta Freedman has joined Duane Morris as a partner in the immigration practice group. Freedman, 46, joins Duane Morris from Pederson & Freedman. She received her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. EPSTEIN BECKER & GREEN Niteesha Gupte, 30, has joined Epstein Becker & Green as an associate in the health care and life sciences practice. Most recently, she was associate counsel at the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of Heath and Human Services. She graduated from St. Louis University School of Law. FLETCHER, HEALD & HILDRETH Jeffrey Gee, 33, has joined Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth as an associate focusing on representing broadcast clients on regulatory and transactional matters. Most recently, he was an associate at Dow, Lohnes & Albertson. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. FORD & HARRISON Ford & Harrison has added three attorneys from Krupin O’Brien. D. Jay Sumner joins the firm as a partner focusing on collective bargaining, arbitrations, job actions, and representation elections. Sumner, 34, received his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Alison Davis also joins as a partner. Davis, 38, represents management in a variety of labor issues. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School. Don Lee joins as an associate also focusing on labor issues. Lee, 35, received his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. Eric Cowan, 47, former vice chair of the business department and chair of the communications practice at Thelen Reid & Priest, has joined the firm as head of the telecommunications practice. He received his law degree from Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. Richard Rubin, 53, joins the telecommunications and complex litigation practice as senior counsel. Most recently, he was a partner at Thelen Reid & Priest. He graduated from George Washington University Law School. David Turetsky, 48, rejoins the firm as a partner concentrating on antitrust, litigation, telecommunications, and legislation. Prior to rejoining the firm he had his own law, lobbying, and business consulting practice. He graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. MCGUIREWOODS William Foster Jr. has joined the Tysons Corner, Va., office of McGuireWoods as an associate in the commercial litigation department. Before joining the firm, Foster, 32, was a clerk for Judge Diane Gilbert Sypolt of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Foster graduated from George Mason University School of Law. MILLER & CHEVALIER Miller & Chevalier has expanded its tax practice with the addition of eight attorneys. Marianna Dyson, 52, joins as a partner concentrating on tax and employee benefits. Most recently, she was a partner at Baker & McKenzie. She received her J.D. from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law and an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center. Kimberly Tan Majure, 37, joins as a partner specializing in international tax law. Most recently, she was counsel at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center. Dwight Mersereau, 42, joins as counsel focusing on federal tax accounting and inventory issues. Formerly, he was a member of the federal tax services group at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He received his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law and his LL.M. from the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law. Anthony Provenzano, 32, also joins as counsel. He is a former associate in the employee benefits and executive compensation practice at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. He graduated from American University Washington College of Law. Steven Schneider, 35, also joins as counsel. Most recently, he worked in the partnership and joint venture group of the national tax office at Ernst & Young. He graduated from Washington University School of Law and received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Michael Lloyd, 35, joins as a senior associate. He joins the firm from Baker & McKenzie and specializes in tax and employee benefits. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law. Steven Dixon, 30, also joins as an associate from Baker & McKenzie. He focuses on federal tax controversy, tax litigation, and international tax. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Jonathan Prokup, 28, also joins as an associate. Most recently, he was with Dechert, where he focused on tax controversy and tax litigation matters. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. PALEY ROTHMAN David Shapiro has joined Paley Rothman as an associate focusing on business and commercial transactions, health law, employment law, technology development, and licensing. Most recently, Shapiro, 32, was a senior associate at Samek, McMillian & Metro. He graduated from Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. PILLSBURY WINTHROP SHAW PITTMAN Harry Glasspiegel, 55, has rejoined Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman as a partner in the global sourcing practice. Most recently, he served as chairman of Glasspiegel Ventures, where he served as an adviser and investor in the technology sourcing sector. He received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. WILLIAMS MULLEN Michael Burke has joined Williams Mullen as an associate in the international section. Before joining the firm. Burke, 33, was a visiting fellow at the Asian Institute of International Financial Law at Hong Kong University’s Faculty of Law.
