ARNOLD & PORTER Former Rep. Jim Turner (D-Texas) has joined Arnold & Porter as a partner in the public policy and government contracts practice. Turner, 59, graduated from the University of Texas School of Law. BAKER & MCKENZIE Baker & McKenzie has added four attorneys to its D.C. office. William “Jack” Matney Jr., 43, joins as a partner in the intellectual property group from Jenkens & Gilchrist. He earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. Robert Busby, 40, who joins as of counsel in the intellectual property group, also came from Jenkens & Gilchrist. He too received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. Dean Morley, 39, enters the fringe benefits tax practice as a partner. Previously, he was a partner at Ivins, Phillips & Barker. He earned his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center. Elizabeth Stern, 44, has joined the firm as a partner from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. BUCKLEY KOLAR Richard DiSalvo comes aboard Buckley Kolar as counsel focusing on domestic and international retail financial services. Previously, DiSalvo, 50, was general counsel at Micron Technology Virginia. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. COVINGTON & BURLING Geoffrey Hobart, 45, has joined Covington & Burling as a partner in the trial, white collar, and pharmaceutical litigation and investigations practice groups. He was a partner in the Boston office of Holland & Knight and graduated from Boston College Law School. DAVIS WRIGHT TREMAINE Davis Wright Tremaine has added three attorneys to the diversity counseling practice in its D.C. office. Sundria Lake, 38, joined as of counsel from Lebensfeld Borker & Sussman. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Tyrone Thomas, an associate, came from Hughes Hubbard & Reed. Thomas, 31, received his J.D. from Tulane University Law School. Jennifer Beall, 30, also joined as an associate. Most recently with Buckley Kolar, she graduated from American University Washington College of Law. GROOM LAW GROUP William Sweetnam Jr., 48, has come aboard Groom Law Group as a partner and chair of the public policy and legislation practice group. He previously served as the benefits tax counsel to the secretary of the treasury on employee benefit matters. Sweetnam has a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. HOWREY Eric Fingerhut, 39, has joined Howrey as a partner in the intellectual property practice. Most recently a partner at Shaw Pittman, Fingerhut graduated from Benjamin N. Thomas Hughes, 40, is a member of the litigation, intellectual property, and antitrust practices. He received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Ted Murphy, 33, is a member of the regulated industries and governmental relations practices. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. H.R. Bert Pena, 55, joins the regulated industries and government relations practice from Hogan & Hartson, where he was a partner. He earned his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law. JONES DAY Steven Adkins, 42, is now a partner in the intellectual property practice at Jones Day. Previously, he was a partner at Shaw Pittman. He received his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law. KAYE SCHOLER Jeffrey Grimson, 38, has joined Kaye Scholer as counsel in the China/international trade practice. Grimson focuses on complex anti-dumping cases emphasizing Asia-based clients. He has a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. PARALYZED VETERANS OF AMERICA William Mailander, 47, has been named general counsel at Paralyzed Veterans of America, where he served as deputy general counsel for the past four years.
