San Francisco Mark Stephenshas joined Gordon & Reesas the firm’s new executive director. Stephens previously worked as the executive associate athletic director and chief of staff at UC-Berkeley. He will handle operations for the firm’s nine offices and will work with the executive committee on strategic planning issues. David Andersonhas been chosen the new managing partner of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman’sSan Francisco office. A 1990 graduate of Stanford Law School, Anderson specializes in white-collar criminal defense, SEC enforcement defense and corporate investigations. Steefel, Levitt & Weisshas re-elected James Eastmanas managing partner for a fourth consecutive term. Eastman is a partner in the real estate and financial services group and the wine and agriculture group. He is also on the firm’s board of directors. He graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1986. Lynch, Gilardi & Grummerhas added Ronald Souzaas a partner in the employment practice group. Souza, who comes to the firm from Epstein Becker & Green, is a 1974 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law. The Student Bar Association of San Francisco Law School named Robert Sheridan“Professor of the Year.” Sheridan, a constitutional law professor, has a private practice in San Francisco. He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law. David Chapmanhas joined Liebert Cassidy Whitmoreas an associate. A litigator experienced in trial preparation, settlement techniques, depositions and discovery, Chapman was previously with Dummit, Briegleb, Boyce & Buchholz. South Bay Bingham McCutchenhas hired Wendy Lazersonas a partner in the East Palo Alto office. A graduate of Albany Law School, Lazerson previously led Holland & Knight’s West Coast labor and employment practice. Southern California David Snyderis the new firmwide chair for the business department and Lewis Feldmanis the new managing partner of the Century City office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Snyder, who is also vice chair of the firm, works in the San Diego office and is a 1974 graduate of Cornell Law School. Feldman graduated from UC-Davis’ King Hall School of Law in 1982. Jennifer Honghas joined Liebert Cassidy Whitmoreas an associate in the L.A. office. Hong, who specializes in the defense of public entities in all aspects of employment litigation, was formerly with Franscell, Strickland, Roberts & Lawrence in Glendale. Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hamptonhas honored Elizabeth Balfourwith the firm’s second annual Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. An associate in the Del Mar Heights office, Balfour belongs to the white-collar defense and business trial practice groups. She is a 1999 graduate of Harvard Law School. Michiko Lindseyhas joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hamptonas an associate in the corporate practice group in Del Mar Heights. A former general counsel with Genius Products Inc. in San Diego, Lindsey received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1999.
