BELL, BOYD & LLOYD Dean Nakamura, 52, has joined Bell, Boyd & Lloyd’s intellectual property group from DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary’s D.C. office. He advises emerging and established businesses and universities on questions of patentability, validity, infringement, freedom to operate, and deployment of intellectual property assets. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. BRYAN CAVE Daniel Prywes, 48, has joined Bryan Cave as a partner. Previously he was a partner at Pepper Hamilton. Prywes concentrates on commercial and employment litigation, representing clients in contract claims, patent disputes, antitrust litigation, securities litigation, employment and insurance disputes, and government contract bid protests. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. FULBRIGHT & JAWORSKI Thomas Ferrigno, 56, has joined Fulbright & Jaworski as a partner. Previously he was a partner at Hughes Hubbard & Reed. His practice involves the defense of public companies, broker-dealers, and individuals being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission and other agencies. Ferrigno graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. GARDNER CARTON & DOUGLAS Gardner Carton & Douglas has hired two partners and one counsel. Paul Moorehead, 41, joins the firm as partner in the Indian tribal governments and government relations practices. Previously he was Republican chief counsel and staff director for the U.S. Senate Indian Affairs Committee. He received his J.D. from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law. David Levin, 57, formerly a partner at Wiley Rein & Fielding, joins the firm’s employee benefits group as partner. He concentrates on ERISA litigation, defending Internal Revenue Service audits, and ERISA counseling on fiduciary duty/prohibited transaction issues. He is a graduate of Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. Elizabeth Binder, 44, formerly an associate at Wiley Rein & Fielding, joins the firm’s employee benefits group as counsel. She represents clients on the federal tax aspects of employee benefit plans and ERISA fiduciary issues. She is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and has an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Washington School of Law. HOLLAND & KNIGHT Holland and Knight has added two partners and an associate from the intellectual property practice at Swidler Berlin. James Laughlin Jr., 63, joins as a partner. He earned his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. John Moran, 52, also joins as a partner. He received his J.D. from Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. Thomas Valente, 29, joins as an associate. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. MAYER, BROWN, ROWE & MAW David Bowen, 47, former special counsel to the associate chief counsel at the Internal Revenue Service, has joined Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw as partner in the transfer pricing practice. He is also an adjunct professor at George Washington University, where he teaches international litigation and dispute resolution in the LL.M. program. He received his J.D. from the College of William & Mary Marshall-Wyeth School of Law, an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, and an LL.M. in litigation and alternative dispute resolution from George Washington University Law School. McDERMOTT WILL & EMERY Kenneth Irvin, 40, has joined McDermott Will & Emery as a partner in the energy and derivatives markets practice group. Previously he was a partner at Morrison & Foerster. He advises on energy trading, regulatory, litigation, and bankruptcy matters. He graduated from Syracuse University College of Law. MORGAN, LEWIS & BOCKIUS Morgan, Lewis & Bockius has hired two new nuclear regulatory partners in the energy practice group. Both were partners in the energy practice at Winston & Strawn and represent clients before the Department of Energy and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Thomas Poindexter, 49, graduated from George Mason University School of Law. Kathryn Sutton, 41, graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. SHEPPARD, MULLIN Roy Goldberg, 42, has been elected to partner in the business trial practice group at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton. He focuses on litigation in aviation matters, commercial contract disputes, construction disputes, challenges to government user fees and rules and regulations, intellectual property disputes, and international trade matters. He graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law. SOUNDEXCHANGE INC. Gary Greenstein, 39, has joined SoundExchange Inc. as general counsel. Most recently he was the vice president of business and legal affairs for the Recording Industry Association of America. He graduated from George Washington University Law School. TROUTMAN SANDERS David Rubin, 44, has joined Troutman Sanders’ D.C. office as a partner in the energy practice group. Previously he was a partner at Swidler Berlin. He has experience handling electric utility rate cases before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state utility commissions. He received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law. WILMER CUTLER PICKERING Beth Hilliard Colleye, 38, has joined Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr’s D.C. office as counsel in the securities department. Previously she was an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. Her practice focuses on internal corporate investigations and enforcement matters before the Securities and Exchange Commission and counseling on Sarbanes-Oxley and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act compliance. She graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. WILSON INTERNATIONAL LAW William “Willy” Wilson, 48, formerly a partner at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, has started his own firm in D.C.
