MAYER, BROWN, ROWE & MAW Yoon Ham, 43, an intellectual property lawyer, has joined Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw as a partner in its D.C. office. He will litigate patent and other intellectual property infringement cases, licensing negotiations and prosecute U.S. and foreign patents. Previously, Ham was a partner at DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary. He received his J.D. and his master of intellectual property from Franklin Pierce Law Center. Joseph Votava Jr., 50, an estates and trusts partner at Nixon Peabody, has joined the firm’s D.C. office from its Rochester, N.Y., office where he will expand the firm’s private clients practice. He is also responsible for launching a D.C. office of Nixon Peabody Financial Advisors, which provides comprehensive financial advice and planning and investment services to high-net-worth individuals, their families, and private foundations. He received his J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law. REED SMITH Reed Smith has hired Eric Alexander, 34, as a partner in the products liability practice group in its D.C. office. He will be working closely with Reed Smith’s Philadelphia and California offices on fen-phen and other matters for Wyeth and other drug and device manufacturers.
