REED SMITH Reed Smith has announced management changes in its D.C. and Virginia offices. It also has added a lateral partner and promoted five attorneys to the partnership. Judith Harris, 56, the D.C. managing partner for the past two years, is stepping down in order to devote more time to her telecommunications and antitrust/trade regulation practice. She will remain a partner. She received her J.D. from Yale Law School. James Gallatin Jr., the Virginia managing partner, will be Harris’ successor. He will continue his role as head of the firm’s government contracts, grants, and trade team. Gallatin, 52, received his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. Karen Fagelson, 49, a partner in the firm’s real estate group in the Leesburg office, will replace Gallatin. She will be responsible for overseeing operations, market presence, and continued growth in the Virginia offices. During the transition, Fagelson will work out of the Falls Church office. She received her J.D. from Cornell Law School. Matthew Schlesinger has joined the D.C. office as a partner in its insurance coverage practice group. Schlesinger, 41, most recently was a partner at McKenna Long & Aldridge. He received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. Gayle Girod, of counsel in the firm’s D.C. office, has been promoted to partner. Girod, 39, specializes in federal supply schedules, government claims litigation, and government contract due diligence and compliance matters. She received her J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law. Andrew Hurst, 34, an associate in the D.C. office, has also been promoted to partner. Hurst’s practice includes work on civil law, criminal law, and regulatory litigation. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Areta Kupchyk, 47, has been promoted from of counsel to partner in the D.C. office and will continue focusing on FDA regulatory issues. Kupchyk received her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law. Jason Matechak, a former associate, has been promoted to partner. He will continue his work in the D.C. office’s government services practice. Matechak, 37, received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. Matthew Sheldon, an associate in the Falls Church office, has also been promoted to partner. He will continue his work with commercial litigation. Sheldon, 35, received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. WILMER CUTLER Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr has announced the promotion of 20 associates to of counsel. Kevin Bailey, 35, is in the litigation department. He received his law degree from Duke University School of Law. Ken Bamberger, 36, is also in the litigation department. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Sam Broderick-Sokol, 37, is also in the litigation department. He received his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law. Catherine Brown, 38, is in the corporate group. She received her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. Anitra Cassas, 35, is in the securities group. She received her J.D. from the University of California at Berkley Boalt Hall School of Law. Jonathan Cedarbaum, 43, is in the litigation department. He received his law degree from Yale Law School. Greg Chernack, 33, is also in the litigation department. He also received his J.D. from Yale Law School. Lowry Crook, 34, is in the litigation department. He received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. Gail Ennis, 42, is in the securities department. She received her law degree from Brooklyn Law School. Anne Harkavy, 31, is in the litigation group. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School. Eric Hougen, 33, is in the securities department. He received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law. Jack Levy, 33, is in the trade group. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Jeanine Magurshak, 34, is in the financial institutions group. She also received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Allison May, 35, is in the corporate department. She also received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Sean McCann, 32, is in the bankruptcy and commercial and corporate groups. He earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School. Elizabeth Mitchell, 33, is in the litigation department. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School. Mark Oh, 32, is in the securities group. He received his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University. Darcy Van Kirk, 33, is in the corporate department. She received her law degree from Duke University School of Law. Todd Wiench, 31, is in the securities group. He received his J.D. from Drake University Law School, and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center. Chris Wilber, 32, is also in the securities department.
