ARNOLD & PORTER Dara Corrigan, former acting inspector general at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has joined Arnold & Porter as a partner. Corrigan, 39, focuses on protecting Medicare and Medicaid programs from health care fraud and abuse. At Arnold & Porter, she will serve as co-head of the pharmaceutical and medical device practice group. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. BAKER & HOSTETLER Paul Schmidt has joined Baker & Hostetler as a partner and will lead the international tax practice group. Most recently, he was part of the international corporate tax team at KPMG, where he focused on international tax planning and structuring. Schmidt, 36, earned his LL.M. and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. COVINGTON & BURLING William Chip has joined Covington & Burling as a partner. He will continue his practice in international tax and transfer pricing, as he did previously as a partner at Deloitte & Touche. Chip, 55, received his J.D. from Yale Law School. DAVIS WRIGHT TREMAINE Amber Husbands has joined Davis Wright Tremaine as an associate, focusing on communications, media, and information technology law. Prior to this, she was a litigation associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. Husbands, 31, received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. DEWEY BALLANTINE David Perlman has joined Dewey Ballantine as a partner in the energy markets and regulatory group. Previously, he served as senior legal adviser in the office of general counsel at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Perlman, 49, received his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. LATHAM & WATKINS Four Latham & Watkins associates have been elected partner. George Cannon Jr., 38, practices energy markets and regulatory law and received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. W. Andrew Gantt III, 40, practices corporate and regulatory law, with a focus on health care and life sciences, and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Allen Gardner, 36, practices litigation, with a focus on products liability and health care fraud. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School. Janice Schneider, 43, practices natural resources, Indian law, and environmental litigation. She received her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School. McDERMOTT WILL & EMERY Philip McCarty has rejoined McDermott Will & Emery as a partner in the tax department. Previously, he was a partner in the national tax services group at PricewaterhouseCoopers. McCarty, 53, received his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law and his LL.M. from New York University School of Law. McGUIREWOODS Two associates have joined the labor and employment department at the Tysons Corner, Va., office of McGuireWoods. Cathryn Ann Le, 31, will focus on employment discrimination, labor-management relations, and wrongful discharge. Previously, Le was an associate at Troutman Sanders. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Jesse Rudy, 28, will also focus on these areas, as well as in government compliance and noncompete litigation. Rudy previously was an associate at Wiley Rein & Fielding. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. PAUL, HASTINGS Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker has elected a new chairman for its litigation department and also promoted two of counsel to partner. Christopher Dugan, a partner in the firm, has been named chairman of its litigation department. He will continue his practice focusing on international litigation and arbitrations, and complex corporate and accounting fraud matters. Dugan, 55, received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Behnam Dayanim, formerly of counsel to the firm’s litigation department, is now a partner. He is also in the firm’s technology and electronic commerce, intellectual property, privacy and information security, international trade, and government affairs practices. Dayanim, 37, received his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Lisa Rushton, 37, formerly of counsel in the real estate department, also is now a partner. She represents businesses on matters of health and environmental government compliance.
