San Francisco Tucker Ellis & Westhas added Jade Chaoand Thomas Cheswickas associates in the firm’s trial group. Chao’s practice focuses on mass tort and professional and products liability as well as intellectual property. She received her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2001. Cheswick concentrates on litigation matters including director and officer liability and insurance. He is a 2001 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Scott Joachimhas moved to Drinker Biddle & Reathfrom Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Joachim’s practice includes mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance representations. He earned his J.D. in 1997 from Hastings College of the Law. South Bay Sean Cottlehas joined Hoge, Fenton, Jones& Appel’s real estate group in San Jose as of counsel. Cottle comes to the firm from Andersen, Bonnifield & Cottle in Concord. For the past 14 years, Cottle has advised and represented landowners, developers, builders, subcontractors and homeowners in all phases of real estate. He received his J.D. from Tulane Law School. Sacramento Environmental attorney Michael L.F. Buckhas joined Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos & Rudyas a partner. Previously, Buck was a partner at McDonough Holland & Allen and also served as assistant general counsel of the state Environmental Protection Agency. Buck’s experience includes all aspects of environmental regulatory compliance and enforcement defense, as well as expertise gained from handling real property transactions and cleanups involving contaminated properties. He received his J.D. in 1993 from the University of Colorado School of Law. Southern California Prominent real estate attorney Alan Waytehas joined PiperRudnick’s real estate practice in Los Angeles. Previously with Dewey Ballantine, Wayte has substantial experience representing institutional clients, such as insurance companies, banks, pension funds and REITS. He routinely represents Los Angeles County. Wayte is a Stanford Law School graduate. Joining the firm as an associate is Wilbert Watts Jr.,whose practice focuses on real estate and bankruptcy law. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1999. Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hamptonhas added W. David Osborneas a member of the labor and employment practice in San Diego. Osborne most recently was general counsel for Moose Restaurant Group. He graduated from University of San Diego School of Law in 1993. Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnoldhas elevated five to partner, including Jonathan Dunnin the Irvine office and David Schniderand John Stephensin Los Angeles. Dunn is a member of the surety practice group with a practice focusing on surety, construction, debtor/creditor, bankruptcy and commercial law. He is a 1992 graduate of Seattle University School of Law. Schnider, a member of the IP practice group, focuses on copyright and trademark litigation and counseling, with an emphasis on the consumer product and entertainment industries. He received his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1998. Stephens is a member of the IP practice group and insurance industry team, and a 1995 graduate of Rutgers School of Law.
