FOLEY & LARDNER Two former federal government attorneys have joined the Foley & Lardner’s litigation practice. William Clements, 55, joins as a partner in the white collar defense and corporate compliance practice. Previously, Clements served as corporate counsel for international trade regulation for General Electric Co., where he advised the company’s industrial and financial business groups. He has an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Donald Griffith, 40, joins as a senior counsel in the securities litigation, enforcement and regulatory practice. Griffith was senior counsel and branch chief of the Division of Enforcement of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He earned his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. MOBEX COMMUNICATIONS INC. David Predmore, 39, has been promoted to general counsel at Mobex Communications Inc., where he will oversee policy activities, including the negotiation of asset purchase agreements, leases, and service contracts. Predmore was previously an associate counsel at Mobex. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. OBLON, SPIVAK Stephen Kunin, former deputy commissioner for patent examination policy at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, has joined Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt as of counsel. Kunin, 54, received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. POWELL GOLDSTEIN Mark Baran has joined Powell Goldstein as special counsel in the financial institutions practice. Baran, 42, previously was director and senior tax counsel at the American Bankers Association Center for Community Bank Tax. He received his J.D. from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law and his LL.M. in taxation from Emory University School of Law. PRESTON GATES Thomas Reed has joined Preston Gates Ellis & Rouvelas Meeds as of counsel in the firm’s litigation practice. Previously, he was a senior trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice. Reed, 40, received his J.D. from University of Chicago Law School. SPRIGGS & HOLLINGSWORTH Three associates have joined Spriggs & Hollingworth’s toxic torts and products liability group. Anne Friedman, 29, previously at Wright, Robinson, Osthimer & Tatum, received her J.D. from Tulane University Law School. Dana Gausepohl, 30, formerly at Tydings & Rosenberg, received his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law. Jason Mahoney, 32, previously at Hunton & Williams, received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. VENABLE Lisa Jose Fales, 42, has rejoined Venable as a partner in the firm’s advertising, marketing, and new media group. She previously was a partner in Howrey Simon Arnold & White’s government antitrust group. Fales graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law. WOMBLE CARLYLE SANDRIDGE & RICE Robert Cohen, 38, has joined Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice as of counsel to the firm’s real estate practice group. Most recently, Cohen was national policy counsel at the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.
