San Francisco Hersh & Hershhas promoted Mark Burtonto partner. Burton joined Hersh in 1998 and has represented numerous personal injury plaintiffs and received recognition for his mass tort litigation work against pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Burton received his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1995. Mohar Quan & Fanning Law Grouphas added Gustavo Moharas a partner, officially changing its name with the addition. A specialist in U.S.-Mexican migration policies, Mohar is considered one of the foremost experts in employee migration law. Mohar retains his role as adviser to the Mexican government. The Schinner Law Grouphas added Geoffrey Creightonas of counsel. Creighton most recently was general counsel of San Francisco software maker Global IP Sound Inc. His practice includes software licensing, general business transactions, litigation and dispute resolution. Creighton is a 1984 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos & Rudyhas won the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s Excellence in Business Award, also known as the “Ebbie,” for corporate philanthropy. Nominated for the award by the S.F. School Volunteers (SFSV), the firm was lauded for its launch of a girls’ mentoring program at Enola D. Maxwell Middle School. The firm also has volunteered its time for tutoring, honor roll and mentoring lunches, school beautification projects and has made donations of furniture and computer equipment. East Bay The Contra Costa County Bar Association, with assistance from attorney and private judge M. Sue Talia, has launched the first “Limited Representation Lawyer Referral Service Panel” in the state. The panel will be available for family law litigants who are facing the challenge of navigating through the judicial system without an attorney. Southern California Gibson, Dunn & Crutcherhas elected eight new partners, including two in Orange County and one in Los Angeles: Michelle Hodgesand James Moloney, members of the corporate transactions and securities group, are in the Orange County office.
