Morgan, Lewis & Bockius announced Friday that it had named five new partners to its local offices, effective Oct. 1. William “Zak” Taylor, 56, was elevated from of counsel. Taylor, a longtime specialist in health care, antitrust and business law, received his J.D. in 1976 from Harvard Law School. He joined Morgan, Lewis in February 2003 from Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison and works in his new firm’s San Francisco office. Renee Lawson, Peter Phleger and Brett Schuman were all associates in Morgan, Lewis’ San Francisco office and formerly associates at Brobeck. Lawson, 36, is a litigator who received her J.D. in 1996 from UCLA School of Law. Phleger, 42, focuses his practice on the formation of private investment funds. He earned his J.D. in 1996 from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Schuman, 33, who specializes in appellate litigation, earned his J.D. in 1996 from Harvard Law School. James McDonald, 38, who has extensive litigation and patent litigation experience in a variety of technologies, earned his J.D. in 1996 from Boston University School of Law. He was an associate in Morgan, Lewis’ Palo Alto office and formerly an associate at Pennie & Edmonds. Morgan, Lewis is a 1,200-attorney firm with 19 offices — including four in California.
