AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION George Washington University law professor Alberto Benitz has been named to the American Bar Association Commission on Immigration Policy, Practice, and Pro Bono. Benitz teaches clinical law and is the director of the university’s Immigration Clinic. AMERICAN BAR FOUNDATION Gregory Murphy, a partner in the Alexandria, Va., office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, has been elected as a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Membership in the foundation is limited to one-third of 1 percent of the lawyers licensed to practice in each state. D.C. BAR FOUNDATION Robert Weiner, head of Arnold & Porter’s litigation section, was elected president of the D.C. Bar Foundation. Weiner is a former president of the D.C. Bar and former chair of the American Bar Association Pro Bono Committee. The foundation provides funding for legal services for underprivileged residents in the city. INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE Sonia Boutillon, an associate with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan’s energy practice group, was selected to take part in the University Traineeship Program at the International Court of Justice. Boutillon will clerk for Judge Gilbert Guillaume, who recently ended his tenure as president of the court. NAACP Mark MacDougall, a litigation partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, was the recipient of the Foot Soldier in the Sands Award.
