DICKSTEIN SHAPIRO Alicia Batts, 38, has joined Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky as a partner in the litigation and dispute resolution group. Prior to joining the firm, Batts was a partner at Foley & Lardner. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School. HUGHES HUBBARD & REED Marshall Babson has joined the labor and employment practice at Hughes Hubbard & Reed. Prior to joining the firm, Babson, 58, was a partner with Jones Day. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School. MCKENNA, LONG & ALDRIDGE T. Mark Flanagan Jr., a partner in the litigation practice, has been named national managing partner of McKenna, Long & Aldridge. He assumed his new position on July 1. Flanagan, 49, graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. ROBINS, KAPLAN David Balto has joined Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi as a partner in the antitrust and trade regulation, health care litigation, and intellectual property litigation practice groups. Most recently he was a partner at White & Case. Balto, 51, earned his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE The U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C. announces the appointment of six new attorneys. Geoffrey Carter, 34, joins the Misdemeanor Trial Section. Most recently he was a trial attorney with the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Carter graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. Marisa Demeo, 37, also joins the Misdemeanor Trial Section. She was regional counsel at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and an adjunct professor at Howard University School of Law. Demeo graduated from New York University School of Law. William Frentzen, 34, joins the Community Prosecution/Grand Jury Section. Most recently, he was an assistant U.S. attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia prosecuting white collar fraud cases. He earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School. Youli Lee, 30, joins the Misdemeanor Trial Section. Most recently, she was an associate with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan in New York. Lee graduated from Boston University School of Law. Mark O’Brien, 30, joins the Domestic Violence (Misdemeanor) Section. Most recently, he was an assistant state’s attorney with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office in Maryland. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. Finally, Scharn Robinson, 36, also joins the Domestic Violence (Misdemeanor) Section. Most recently she was an associate with Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law. VENABLE J. Douglas Baldridge has joined Venable as a partner. Most recently he was a partner at Howrey, Simon, Arnold & White. Baldridge, 42, received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. WINSTON & STRAWN Douglas Greenburg, 37, who was most recently counsel to the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, has rejoined Winston & Strawn as a partner in the litigation practice.
