In May the global head of litigation at investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston jumped ship to join Wilmer Cutler Pickering as a partner in the firm’s New York office. J. Kevin McCarthy, who started work at CSFB in 1996 as a vice president and litigation counsel, became a partner in Wilmer Cutler’s litigation and securities practices. At CSFB, McCarthy handled a range of matters including regulatory issues, internal investigations, and general litigation. Washington-based Wilmer Cutler recently merged with Boston’s Hale and Dorr. Back at CSFB, Pierre Gentin was appointed to take McCarthy’s job. Gentin previously served as general counsel for the research division, where he oversaw the firm’s global implementation of the settlement between U.S. regulators and Wall Street firms relating to research analyst independence. Also in May, Patrick Patalino was made director of regulatory matters. He was the top assistant to CSFB’s global GC, Gary Lynch, for the past two years.
