Winston & Strawn has snagged two litigation partners from Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich’s Palo Alto office. Jeffrey Lederman and Amanda Groves joined Winston’s San Francisco office last week. Lederman had been with Gray Cary for 22 years, joining the firm after graduating from UC-Davis’ King Hall School of Law. Groves joined the firm in 1996 after obtaining her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. Lederman focuses on commercial technology disputes and also handles real estate disputes. Groves’ practice is devoted to complex commercial and real estate litigation. Gray Cary has lost a string of partners in the last six months. Litigation partners Donald Rushing, Mark Zebrowski and James Huston defected from the firm’s San Diego office to Morrison & Foerster in May. Corporate partner William Choe jumped to Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal’s San Francisco office, and Troy Zander joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton’s San Diego office. Chicago-based Winston & Strawn gained a San Francisco outpost through its merger with Murphy Sheneman Julian & Rogers in 2003. In the last four months, the firm has grabbed five partners from well-established Bay Area firms. The outpost now has 36 lawyers. Winston & Strawn also hired associate Jennifer Golinveaux, who most recently worked at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. Previously she was at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. At Wilson, she worked with partner Andrew Bridges, who recently joined Winston & Strawn.
