AMERICAN ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION John Townsend, chair of Hughes Hubbard & Reed’s arbitration and alternative dispute resolution practice group, was elected chair of the executive committee of the American Arbitration Association. In this position, Townsend will serve as one of the principal nonemployee officers of the AAA, a provider of conflict management services. THE DEFENSE TRADE ADVISORY GROUP George Grammas, a partner at Gardner Carton & Douglas, has been named to the Defense Trade Advisory Group. DTAG was established to advise the assistant secretary for the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs in the State Department on changes in regulation, policy, and practice related to trade and technology transfer in the space and defense industries. GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY LAW CENTER Regina Pisa has been named chair of the Georgetown University Law Center’s board of visitors. Pisa, a 1982 alumna, is the chairwoman and managing partner of Goodwin Proctor. The board of visitors advises Georgetown Law Center on academic, financial, and other matters. GREENFIELD/BELSER Greenfield/Belser Ltd. has won five Your Honor Awards from the Legal Marketing Association. This is the 13th year the legal marketing firm has received multiple Your Honor Awards since its inception in 1988. The awards recognize excellence in legal marketing. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PRO BONO PROFESSIONALS Robert Weiner, partner and head of the litigation practice group at Arnold & Porter, was the recipient of the William Reece Smith Jr. Special Services to Pro Bono Award from the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals. Weiner was recognized for his “outstanding national leadership for commitment to, and positive impact upon the institutions and systems of providing pro bono legal services to the poor.” WOMEN’S BAR ASSOCIATION Tracy Muller, an associate at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, has been named co-chair of the Intellectual Property Law Forum of the Women’s Bar Association for the District of Columbia. Her term runs until April 2005. Her co-chair is Rebecca McNeill of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner.
