The fun (and the ordeal) continues this summer, with both the downtown and suburban series promising to be back in full swing. The “Screen on the Green” opens July 19 with the original “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” and closes Aug. 16 with “All the President’s Men” — both will fit right in with the setting as Jimmy Stewart wanders the Mall for inspiration and Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman zip around town for Watergate clues. In between, the series will roll star-studded classics with William Powell and Myrna Loy in the original 1934 “Thin Man,” Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in the gothic intrigue of “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane,” and Spencer Tracy and Ingrid Bergman in the 1943 “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” (all in glorious black and white). Each evening from Aug. 13 through 22, NIH returns to Strathmore with a nice variety of twilight concerts, food, and family fare — “Star Wars,” “Lord of the Rings — Return of the King,” “Jaws,” “Casablanca,” “The Pricess Bride,” “North by Northwest,” “Seabiscuit,” “Chicago,” “Back to the Future,” and “The Wizard of Oz.” So grab a blanket, a cool drink, and some bug spray — and enjoy! — Peter Gutmann
