COZEN O’CONNOR William Moffitt, a partner in the D.C. office of Cozen O’Connor, was the featured speaker at Law & All That Jazz, a two-day conference sponsored by the Louisiana Criminal Defense Lawyers. Moffitt spoke about the current state of terrorism and the law. ENERGY BAR ASSOCIATION Howard Shafferman, a partner in the D.C. office of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Energy Bar Association. The EBA is a nonprofit voluntary association whose mission is to enhance the professional competence of those who practice and administer energy law. GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY LAW CENTER Georgetown University Law Center professor Sherman Cohn has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Specialist Grant to lecture about the U.S. legal system at the University of Tambov in Russia. This will be Cohn’s second trip to the University of Tambov. He is an expert in civil procedure and professional responsibility. NATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION Everett Bellamy, assistant dean for J.D. programs at Georgetown University Law Center, was the recipient of the National Bar Association’s Presidential Award. Bellamy was honored for his exceptional commitment to the legal profession. RESOLVE INC. Linda Fisher, former deputy administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, has been named to the board of directors of Resolve Inc., a not-for-profit public policy dispute resolution organization. SHIDLER CENTER FOR LAW COMMERCE & TECHNOLOGY Gregory Simon, the president of FasterCures/The Center for Accelerating Medical Solutions, was the recipient of the 2004 Sharon Nelson Leadership Award. Each year, the Shidler Center selects an outstanding alumna or alumnus to acknowledge significant contributions in the fields of law and technology.
