While one cannot vouch for the accuracy of newspaper articles, I found The Recorderstory of May 25 ["Debate over Boalt's Yoo hits graduation ceremony"] concerning the protests against Professor Yoo quite disturbing. If some of the Class of 2004 at Boalt Hall and apparently some faculty want to use graduation ceremonies to protest the war in Iraq, so be it. But to attack John Yoo personally and demand his discharge over a legal opinion he authored is way over the line. It reflects discredit on the law school that more than 240 Boalt students and a few faculty would join in such action. Such mindless stupidity is of course protected by the First Amendment but one wonders what such students are taught in terms of legal analysis and critical thinking in three years at Boalt. Perhaps the above episode can be turned into a positive teaching tool at Boalt for the next semester. Robert O.
