BLANK ROME Heather Miller Podesta, 34, has joined Blank Rome as a partner. Miller Podesta most recently served as tax and trade counsel to Rep. Robert Matsui (D-Calif.). She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. EPSTEIN, BECKER & GREEN Chris Robinson, 30, has joined Epstein, Becker & Green’s national health law practice as an associate. He was most recently an associate with McKenna, Long & Aldridge in the business and transactions group. He received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School. FOLEY & LARDNER Robert Geist Jr., 37, joins Foley & Lardner as a public affairs director. He is the former press secretary for Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-N.J.), the chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation. In that capacity, he helped to publicize LoBiondo’s efforts to secure the nation’s waterways after Sept. 11 and to publicize the passage of the Maritime Transportation Security Act. HUNTON & WILLIAMS Hunton & Williams announces the election of two partners in its D.C. office. Makram Jaber, 41, is a member of the resources, regulatory, and environmental law group. His practice focuses on rule making, compliance counseling, and enforcement proceedings under the Clean Air Act. He graduated from Emory University School of Law. Stephen Schreiner, 39, is a member of the litigation, intellectual property, and antitrust group. He focuses on intellectual property law, including patent litigation, patent prosecution, and counseling related to electronics, software, e-commerce, business methods, and interactive media. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. SEYFARTH SHAW David Blake, 35, has been elected partner in Seyfarth Shaw’s litigation practice. His practice focuses on resolving construction disputes. He received his J.D. from Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. SKADDEN, ARPS Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has announced the promotion of two attorneys to partner. Jody Brewster, 49, specializes in tax law. She received her L.L.M. from New York University School of Law and her J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law. Erich Schwartz, 45, practices in the litigation group focusing on SEC compliance and enforcement matters. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School SONNENSCHEIN Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal announces the election of four new partners in the D.C. office. Gina Cavalier, 33, is in the health care practice group and concentrates on health care fraud and abuse and compliance counseling as well as information privacy and security. She graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. Kevin Chavous, 47, focuses on business law, corporate transactions, government relations, public law and policy strategies, and education. He graduated from Howard University School of Law. He is a member of the Council of the District of Columbia. Kimani Clark, 31, practices in the intellectual property and technology group, focusing on software and computer technology patent law. He received his J.D. from Stanford Law School. Scott Memmott, 38, practices in the health care and litigation and business regulation groups. He focuses on federal government and internal corporate investigations; civil, criminal, and administrative enforcement actions; and complex commercial litigation. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. WOMBLE CARLYLE Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice announces two new additions to its business litigation practice group. Deborah Israel, 39, joins the firm as a partner from the litigation group at Piper Rudnick. She specializes in trial work, complex commercial arbitration, and emergency relief and injunctions in federal and state courts. She received her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law. Gregory Werkheiser, 30, joins the firm as an associate, also from Piper Rudnick.
