New Special Counsel

Fox Rothschild has expanded its real estate department with the addition of Antonia M. Motola as special counsel. Motola is a transactional attorney with a concentration in real estate and land use. Motola has experience in the preparation, negotiation and review of residential and commercial real estate contracts and lease agreements. Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Motola worked in various New Jersey law firms.

New Counsel

Kim R. Jessum has become patent counsel at Rohm and Haas Co. in Philadelphia. She concentrates her practice in intellectual property prosecution, transactions and litigation. Prior to joining the company, Jessum was an associate at Morgan Lewis & Bockius.

Speakers

Anapol Schwartz Weiss Cohan Feldman & Smalley attorney Joel D. Feldman served as a course planner, speaker and moderator for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s continuing education seminar titled So You’ve Been Removed, held on March 26 at the Wanamaker Building. Feldman, managing partner of the firm, concentrates his practice in securities and stockbroker liability litigation, medical and legal malpractice, products liability, automobile accident litigation and other personal injury matters.

Marc Neff of the Law Offices of Marc Neff spoke at the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers‘ 2004 joint annual meeting on Friday, April 23. Neff’s presentation was titled “Cross-Examination of a Child Complainant in a Sex Case.”

Honored

The publishers of Philadelphia Magazine have named solo practioner Richard M. Heller to their list of Super Lawyers. Heller will be honored in the June 2004 issue of the magazine and the Pennsylvania edition of Super Lawyers Magazine. Heller was named in the real estate specialist category.

Benjamin A. Levin and Dean T. Fournaris, partners at Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, were featured in the April edition of Franchise Times as two of the top 100 franchise lawyers in the country for 2004.

Levin, a partner in the business and finance department and managing partner at the firm’s Voorhees office, and Fournaris, a partner in the litigation department at the firm’s Philadelphia office, were nominated by their peers and clients. Both Levin and Fournaris are members of the firm’s franchise and distribution group.

Elected and Appointed

Derek S. Green, chief legislative aide and counsel for Philadelphia City Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco, has been appointed co-vice chairman of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s legal services to the public committee. Green is also the Philadelphia co-chairman of the bar association’s Young Lawyers Division, member of the association’s minority bar and government lawyers committees, and a former member of the association’s house of delegates.

Dean P. Arthur of Curtin & Heefner has been re-elected to a second term as president of the board of directors of Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania, which provides legal services to those who qualify in Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties. Curtin & Heefner is a general practice firm.

Michael Temin of Wolf Block Schorr & Solis-Cohen has been appointed co-chairman of the legal ethics and professional responsibilities committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association for the coming bar year. His term will begin on May 14.

Merritt A. Cole of Dilworth Paxson has been appointed to the venture capital and private equity committee of the business law section of the American Bar Association. A partner at the firm, Cole practices primarily in the areas of securities, corporate and banking law.

Event

The next meeting of the Board of Governors for the Philadelphia Bar Association is scheduled for today at 4 p.m. in the 10th-floor boardroom at the bar association.
