San Francisco Morgan, Lewis & Bockiushas added Jeffry Mannto the firm’s patent practice group as a partner. Mann has specialized in the representation of biotech companies and academic institutions. Previously he was a senior associate at Townsend and Townsend and Crew. Before becoming a lawyer, Mann was an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at UCSF and is currently an assistant adjunct professor of radiology at the university. He is a graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law. Kenneth Gack, a mediator and arbitrator with JAMS since 1996, has been awarded the Distinguished Mediator of the Year award by the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. Gack is a judge pro temin Sonoma County Superior Court and serves on mediation and arbitration panels for the superior courts of San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma and San Mateo counties. He earned his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1976. Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Basshas added two associates to its litigation group, Viveka Agren Rydelland Katherine Zarate. Rydell practices general and complex civil litigation, with an emphasis on intellectual property, securities, class action and antitrust litigation. Prior to joining Coblentz, she was with Bingham McCutch�en. Rydell received her J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1997. Zarate focuses on employment, IP, business and real estate litigation. She comes to the firm from Thelen Reid & Priest and is a 2001 graduate of Boalt Hall. LittlerMendelson’s G. J. Stillson MacDonnellhas been named chair of the employment tax committee of the tax section of the American Bar Association. As an authority on federal and state employment tax codes and procedures, the committee is a leading source of education and guidance for the ABA on everything from payroll tax remittance to the classification of contingent workers and Social Security tax reform. MacDonnell is chair of the firm’s employment tax practice group. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut Law School. Margo Bradish, a partner at Cox, Castle & Nicholson, has been elected to the board of directors of the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association. “SPUR and its members are involved in every significant land use and local government issue in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area,” said Bradish. Bradish has substantial experience strategizing the development process, managing the entitlements process, securing development approvals and negotiating contracts for developers, corporate users, local governments and nonprofits. East Bay Cooper, White & Cooperhas added environmental and energy law partner Barry Ogilbyto its Walnut Creek office. Ogilby formerly was with Bingham McCutchen. He also served as in-house counsel for Exxon Corp. for 15 years. He is a 1972 graduate of the University of Memphis Law School. Roger Petershas joined Best Best & Kriegeras a partner in the municipal law group in Walnut Creek. Previously he was a partner at Cornell, Lange & Peters and has been city attorney for the town of Colma since 1995. Peters is a graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law. Sacramento K& has added two senior litigators, Curtis Leavittand James Novello. Both join the firm as senior counsel. Leavitt most recently was assistant chief counsel at the California Department of Managed Health Care, and Novello was the DMHC’s chief of enforcement and assistant deputy director. Both represent health care entities in a variety of litigation and regulatory matters. Leavitt is a graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law. Novello received his J.D. from Gonzaga University. Southern California Archer Norrishas added Limor Lehavias of counsel in its insurance coverage and bad faith litigation practice. She works in the Corona office. Formerly a partner with Hollins Schechter, Lehavi received an L.L.B. from the University of Haifa School of Law in Israel in 1995 and an L.L.M. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1996. James Williamshas been promoted to partner at Murchison & Cummingin Los Angeles. Williams is co-chair of the firm’s business and commercial practice group. He focuses his practice on IP and corporate transactions as well as strategic counseling for executives and boards of directors. He is a 1977 graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law.
