ARENT FOX Arent Fox has added an associate and a patent agent to its intellectual property practice in D.C. New associate Timothy Churna focuses his practice on patent prosecution. Churna, 30, was previously an associate at Baker Botts. He received his J.D. from the College of William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law. Gautam Prakash, 33, is a patent agent and prosecutes chemical and biotechnological patent applications. Prakash was previously a patent agent at Pillsbury Winthrop. He received his doctorate in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Maryland. COVINGTON & BURLING Martin Gold, 57, has joined Covington & Burling as a partner in its D.C. office. Gold co-chairs the legislative practice group. Previously, he was floor adviser and counsel to Senate Majority Leader William Frist (R-Tenn.). Gold graduated from American University Washington College of Law. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE Wendell Taylor, a former associate in Hunton & Williams’ Richmond office, has become counsel to U.S. Deputy Attorney General James Comey at the U.S. Department of Justice in D.C. Taylor, 32, implements department programs and monitors the work of various agencies and divisions. Taylor received his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law. DRINKER BIDDLE Drinker Biddle & Reath has added two lawyers in its D.C. office. Of counsel Jeffery Fromm manages intellectual property portfolios and litigation. Fromm, 56, was previously senior managing counsel for intellectual property at the Hewlett-Packard Co. He graduated from Widener University School of Law. Jonathan Tarnow, 33, is an associate practicing education law focusing on the Higher Education Act, particularly Title IV student financial aid programs. Previously, Tarnow was an associate at D.C.’s Brustein & Manasevit. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY Jane Bradley, 56, has been appointed to the deputy director and senior fellow position at the Georgetown University Law Center Institute of International Economic Law. Previously, Bradley was assistant U.S. trade representative for monitoring and enforcement. She was admitted to bar in Virginia after completing three years of law office study in the state. HOLLAND & KNIGHT Alan Baron has joined the D.C. office of Holland & Knight as a partner in the litigation group. He practices in the white collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation, and government relations areas. Baron, 62, was previously a Dorsey & Whitney partner in D.C. He graduated from Harvard Law School. JORDEN BURT Jorden Burt has elected two partners in the D.C. office. Jason Gould, 34, represents insurance companies and financial institutions in complex litigation matters. The former associate graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. Stephen Jorden, 38, practices complex civil litigation, including class action defense, and represents clients in international disputes. The former of counsel is a graduate of George Washington University Law School. NIXON PEABODY Kelly Kramer, 31, has joined the D.C. office of Nixon Peabody. Kramer is a member of the government investigations and white collar defense team within the business litigation practice group. He was previously an associate at Ropes & Gray. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. PATTON BOGGS Patton Boggs has promoted two associates to of counsel in its Washington, D.C., office. Willa Perlmutter, 45, is a member of the litigation and environment, health, and safety groups. She earned her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Robert Tompkins, 35, concentrates his practice in government contracts, grants, and cooperative agreements. He earned his J.D. at Washington and Lee University School of Law. PRESTON GATES Preston Gates Ellis & Rouvelas Meeds has elected two former of counsel to partnership in its D.C. office. Ellen Livingston-Behan, 49, is a member of the federal policy group focusing on energy, environmental, and natural resource policy. She graduated from the University of Denver College of Law. Lawrence Sung, 38, practices intellectual property law, particularly biotechnology patent law. He received his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. SHAW PITTMAN Steven Adkins, 41, has joined Shaw Pittman as a partner in its Northern Virginia office. Adkins practices intellectual property, with a particular expertise in patent infringement proceedings before the International Trade Commission. Adkins was a partner with Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg. He received his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law. SMITH, GAMBRELL & RUSSELL Smith, Gambrell & Russell has added two lawyers to its Washington, D.C., office. Glenn Perry, 56, has joined as a partner and heads the intellectual property group in D.C. He focuses on e-commerce, Internet, and computer law and emerging companies. He was most recently a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop. Perry graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law. Richard Schwartzman, 58, has joined as a partner and concentrates on government contracts, and construction and surety law. Schwartzmann was most recently a partner at Bastianelli, Brown & Kelley in D.C.
