San Francisco Shook, Hardy & Bacon has elevated Tammy Webb to partner. Webb focuses her practice on products liability defense and complex litigation. Webb started her career in 1996 in Shook, Hardy’s Kansas City, Mo., office. She received her J.D. from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1996. Jolene Overbeck has joined New York-based Shearman & Sterling as chief marketing officer. Overbeck will oversee global marketing and communications for the firm. She has more than 20 years of experience in law firm marketing, business development, communications and public relations. She was previously the chief marketing officer at Latham & Watkins. South Bay San Jose’s Silicon Valley Law Group has hired Jonathan Brown for its litigation group. Most recently a solo practitioner, Brown focuses on commercial and IP litigation. He is a 2000 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. East Bay McDonough Holland & Allen has added five associates, including two in its Oakland office. Megan Holt Matthew and Gabrielle Whelan will practice in the firm’s redevelopment, public law and land use sections. Previously Matthew worked as a legal intern for Centro de Derecho Ambiental y de los Recursos Naturales in San Jose, Costa Rica. She earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2003. Whelan was an assistant city attorney in Tracy and the deputy city attorney for Livermore before joining McDonough. She is a 1994 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law. Sacramento McDonough Holland & Allen has added five associates, including three in Sacramento. Rachael Durrett joins the firm’s redevelopment and public law sections with a focus on both transactional and litigation matters within redevelopment, public law and water law. Previously she was a legal intern for the Animal Protection Institute. She earned her J.D. from Tulane Law School in Louisiana last year. Amber Hyman joins the redevelopment, public law and employment law sections. She is a 2003 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School where she worked as the pro bono and public interest law coordinator. John Skowronski is joining the real estate section from Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal. He is a 1996 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law. Southern California A Hogan & Hartson rainmaker and three-attorney team have joined Pillsbury Winthrop in its Century City office. Partner Ray La Soya focuses on high-profile mergers and acquisitions and private equity matters. Joining La Soya is partner Lino Lauro and associates Ryan Bates and Dan Palumbo. La Soya and his team’s practice involves a full range of corporate and commercial transactions including M&A, venture capital and mezzanine finance transactions. La Soya and Lauro both received their J.D.s from Yale Law School. Bates and Palumbo are both UCLA School of Law graduates. Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has added two corporate partners. John Tishler joins the firm’s corporate practice group in San Diego. Tishler has more than 12 years of experience representing public and private companies in complex business matters. Previously he was a partner with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch. He is a 1992 Yale Law School graduate. John Hentrich, a securities and technology transactional expert, will join the Del Mar Heights office. He also had been a partner at Procopio, Cory. Hentrich is a 1978 Yale Law School graduate. Richard Sybert, a partner in the San Diego office of Gordon & Rees and co-chair of the firm’s intellectual property group, has been appointed to the Panel of Neutrals of the International Trademark Association-Center for Public Resources. The panel serves as a resource to resolve trademark disputes on a global basis. Currently there are 55 members on the panel worldwide, with only four from California. Sybert is a 1977 graduate of Harvard Law School.
