NEW ATTORNEY Attorney Brendan P. Burke has joined the Chester County law firm of MacElree Harvey. Burke’s experience includes products liability, commercial litigation and premises liability matters. NEW MEMBER Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter & Tanner has an-nounced that Peter M. Newman has become associated with the firm. Newman will contribute to the firm’s practice in the areas of products liability, medical malpractice and other complex civil litigation. HONORED The Literacy Volunteers of America Cape-Atlantic Inc. honored William M. Honan, a partner in the Atlantic City office of Fox Rothschild, on Feb. 26 in recognition of his five years of service on the organization’s board of directors. Literacy Volunteers of America is a volunteer-based adult reading and English language program that trains tutors to help with literacy skills and job preparedness, among other services. Honan’s practice focuses on employment-related litigation, primarily on behalf of employers, in state and federal courts and before various governmental agencies. ELECTED AND APPOINTED The Samuel S. Fels Fund, a grant-making foundation, has announced that David H. Wice, a partner in Alexander & Pelli, and Ida Cohen, a judge on the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County, have been elected president and treasurer of the board, respectively. American Bar Association president Dennis Archer has appointed Jerome J. Shestack chairman of the ABA’s Center for Human Rights. The center coordinates the ABA’s many human rights activities, including sending observers to human rights trials, rule of law interventions in cases of human rights abuses, support of human rights treaties, and liaisons with other human rights organizations. Shestack is a partner in Wolf Block Schorr & Solis-Cohen and co-chairs its business litigation practice group. SPEAKERS Kenneth D. Kleinman was a featured presenter at the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Labor and Employ-ment Law’s annual symposium on the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Safety and Health Act on Feb. 20 in Philadelphia. Kleinman’s presentation was titled “The Intersection of Employer and Employee Responsibility: The Burdens of Showing Employer Knowledge and Employee Misconduct.” Kleinman, a shareholder at Stevens & Lee, concentrates in labor and employment. Jeffrey O. Greenfield, a partner in the corporate and securities department at Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg & Ellers, was a speaker at the recent Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. executive forum series titled The Current State of the Capital Markets. His topic was “Recent Legal Precedents Impacting M&A and Corporate Finance Transactions.” Green-field concentrates his practice in corporate and commercial finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic transactions. EVENT The Support Center for Child Advocates will unveil the Children’s Playroom Mural by local artist Gabriel Tiberino and the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program with a cocktail party on Wednesday, March 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the agency’s new home at 1900 Cherry St. Child Advocates has been conducting a $2.5 million capital campaign for the purchase and renovation of 1900 Cherry St. and is taking this opportunity to celebrate the dual accomplishments of surpassing the $2 million mark in the campaign and the dedication of the artwork. The agency provides pro bono attorneys and social service advocacy to abused and neglected children in Philadelphia County.
