Ruth Rabstein Scholarship Opportunity The Women Lawyers’ Caucus of Mercer County invites prospective and current law students to apply for the Ruth Rabstein scholarship for the 2004-2005 academic year. The $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to an eligible Mercer County woman based on financial need, academic achievement, community service, ties to Mercer County and other factors. Morris County Bar Foundation Awards $19,500 in Grants Officers of the Morris County Bar Foundation gathered in historic Courtroom One of the courthouse on Jan. 13 to recognize and present grants to representatives from seven Morris County organizations. The grants, totaling $19,550, were distributed to The Academy for Law & Public Safety (Butler High School), for use by a student participating in a week-long Presidential Classroom program for aspiring public policy leaders held in Washington, D.C.; Court Appointed Special Advocates, for two training programs and its advocacy program for children in foster care in Morris and Sussex counties; the Deirdre O’Brien Child Advocacy Center, for its children’s respite care program; Jersey Battered Women’s Service, for development and distribution of information packets to victims of domestic violence; Legal Services of Northwest Jersey, for creation and distribution of outreach materials in English and Spanish for low-income Morris County residents; the Rachel Coalition of JFS/MetroWest, for retaining and expanding the services of a part-time domestic violence attorney and training of volunteers for its domestic violence program; and The Women’s Center at County College of Morris, for expansion of its legal clinics and production of seminars. Saiber, Schlesinger Partner Jeffrey Lorell Moderates Seminar on Antitrust Law Saiber Schlesinger Satz & Goldstein partner Jeffrey Lorell moderated an ICLE update on antitrust law at the Clarion Hotel in Edison on Feb. 27. The four-hour seminar, “The Indispensable Guide To Antitrust Law,” featured Lorell and four other speakers: Harvey Kaish, partner, McCarter & English; Arnold Calmann, partner, Saiber Schlesinger Satz & Goldstein; Kenneth Mack, partner, Fox, Rothschild, O’Brien & Frankel; and David Harris, partner, Lowenstein Sandler. The program examined relevant state and federal statutes; the current focus of U.S. Justice Department enforcement activities; horizontal price fixing, and other topics.
