Speakers Jay Barry Harris, a senior partner with Fineman Krekstein & Harris, recently addressed colleagues on Insurance Coverage and the Economic Loss Doctrine at a national symposium in New York City sponsored by the Defense Re-search Institute. Richard S. Mroz, of counsel with Strad-ley Ronon Stevens & Young, recently participated in a second hearing on governance of federal home loan banks for the Federal Housing Finance Board. The hearings are designed to collect information about possible changes to finance board regulations or to the Federal Home Loan Bank Act. Mroz is a member of the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. Lee M. Diamondstein, an attorney and the account director with Animation Technologies, recently spoke at Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law’s L.LM. program on trial advocacy with Edward D. Ohlbaum, professor of law and director of trial advocacy and clinical legal education, about various types of strategic visual communications. Diamondstein and Ohlbaum discussed evidentiary and admissibility issues as they relate to animation and other computer-generated exhibits. Elected and Appointed Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll has announced that partner Alan J. Davis has been named one of three new members of the board of the Pew Charitable Trusts, a national public charity. As a director, Davis will assist in the oversight of the trusts’ programs and operational activities. Davis practices in the areas of complex litigation and counsels clients on strategic and tactical issues. Honored At a recent thank-you meeting presented by the Salvation Army, Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin was presented with an award titled 2003 Hope for the Holidays for the Philadelphia office’s contribution of a large number of stockings to the holiday stocking stuffer program. The Philadelphia Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division will present three distinguished service awards at its annual lunch on Monday, March 8, at noon at the Westin Philadelphia, 99 S. 17th St. The Craig M. Perry Service Award will be presented to Philadelphia Bar Foundation president Edward F. Chacker for his commitment to pro bono and fund-raising for charitable organizations and his involvement in YLD activities. The F. Sean Peretta Service Award will be given to Christopher W. Ritchie, senior vice president of Citizens Bank, for his contribution of ideas and financial resources to the YLD. The YLD Vision Award will be presented to the law firm of Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads for its financial support and encouragement of associate involvement with the YLD. Seminar On Wednesday, April 28, Flaster Greenberg environmental law attorney Franklin J. Riesenburger, resident shareholder of the firm’s Vineland office, will present a Builders League of South Jersey seminar on Environmental Risk Management in Real Property Acquisitions. The seminar will be held at the BLSJ’s headquarters, 114 Haddontowne Court in Cherry Hill, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The cost to register, which includes a continental breakfast, is $25. Event Villanova University School of Law’s Public Interest Fellowship Program is beginning to gather and recruit items for its 2004 auction for public interest. This event is being held on Friday, March 26, at the school of law. Since 1998, PIFP has held an annual auction to raise funds to provide fellowships for Villanova law students who pursue public interest work over their summer breaks. PIFP is accepting donations for this year’s auction. Auction items are divided into 11 categories including arts and collectibles, dining and gourmet foods, entertainment, vacations and excursions, and sports tickets and memorabilia.
