5 MAKE THE GRADE AT NOSSAMAN GUTHNER Los Angeles-based Nossaman Guthner Knox & Elliott has promoted five associates to partner, including a San Francisco litigator. The new class increases the partner ranks at the 134-lawyer firm to 63 and is one larger than last year’s class of four. Katrina June Lee, who specializes in complex commercial litigation, is based in Nossaman’s San Francisco office. Lee graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1997. The other four new partners are based in the firm’s Los Angeles headquarters. They are Kathy Emanuel, A. Catherine Norian, Diana Parks and Alfred Smith. Emanuel, Norian and Smith specialize in litigation. Emanuel graduated from the Loyola Law School in 1993, Norian is a 1977 UCLA School of Law alumna and Smith is a Harvard Law School 1996 alumnus. Parks, who is a transactional lawyer, graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law in 1996. – Renee Deger 2 LOCAL PROMOTIONS AT JACKSON LEWIS Employment specialist Jackson Lewis announced that two attorneys based in the firm’s Northern California offices are among the firm’s new class of 13 partners. The 368-lawyer Jackson Lewis now has 152 partners as a result of the promotions, which took effect Jan. 1. Last year, the firm elevated 14 to partner. The firm’s newest partner in the San Francisco office is Kathleen Maylin, who graduated from the University of South California Law School in 1991. In the firm’s Sacramento office, Jennifer Brown Shaw was made partner. Shaw is a 1994 University of San Francisco School of Law graduate. – Renee Deger SHEPPARD, MULLIN ADDS 3 TO THE RANKS Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has promoted three attorneys to its partnership. The trio of new partners are located in the firm’s San Francisco, Los Angeles and Orange County offices, and practice in the firm’s corporate, finance and bankruptcy, and business litigation groups. The new partner class is one smaller than the four-attorney classes the firm has elevated to the partnership for the past three years. Ted Lindquist III, a 1995 graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law, is the San Francisco office’s latest contribution to Sheppard, Mullin’s partnership. Lindquist practices in the firm’s business trial and financial institutions litigation group and has extensive experience in individual and class action cases involving unfair competition, breach of contract and warranty, business torts and product liability. The other two new partners are Brette Simon and Aaron Malo. – Alexei Oreskovic
