KLEINFELD, KAPLAN AND BECKER Anne Maher has joined Kleinfeld, Kaplan and Becker as a D.C. partner. Maher, 52, focuses on food and drug advertising law. She was previously a solo practitioner and before that an assistant director of the Advertising Practices Division in the Consumer Protection Bureau of the Federal Trade Commission. Maher graduated from Northeastern University School of Law. TRANS-ELECT INC. Trans-Elect Inc., a transmission company headquartered in Reston, Va., has named a new general counsel. Sharon Heaton, 42, formerly senior vice president and deputy general counsel, was named senior vice president and general counsel. Heaton graduated from University of Chicago Law School. UNIVERSAL AIR TRAVEL PLAN INC. Patricia Vercelli, 40, has joined Universal Air Travel Plan Inc. as general counsel. She represents UATP on commercial and legal affairs and corporate governance matters. Vercelli was previously a senior associate in the D.C. office of Drinker, Biddle & Reath. She received her law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law. VAN NESS FELDMAN G. William Frick has rejoined Van Ness Feldman as a partner, focusing on energy and environmental work. Frick, 59, was previously general counsel for the American Petroleum Institute. He graduated from the University of Kansas Law School. VENABLE Venable has promoted to partner five attorneys in its D.C., Tysons Corner, Va., Towson, Md., and Rockville, Md., offices. Ralph Albrecht, 38, counsels startups and emerging national and international clients in procurement, licensing, and intellectual property matters. Based in the D.C. office, Albrecht is a former of counsel and received his law degree from George Mason University School of Law. Linda Jackson is a commercial litigator focusing on employment law, business torts, and human resources counseling. Jackson, 38, is based in Tysons Corner. The former senior associate received her law degree from William & Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law. Former of counsel Rebecca Pearson, 40, focuses on government contract litigation in the D.C. office. She received her law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill. Theodore Roberts, 35, has experience in toxic and mass torts, products liability, complex civil litigation, and civil rights. The former associate works in the Towson, Md., office. He graduated from the New England School of Law. Samantha Williams, 35, focuses on complex litigation matters, including shareholder derivative suits, municipal contract disputes, and commercial landlord/tenant disputes. Based in the Rockville, Md. office, the former associate graduated from Indiana University School of Law. WILMER, CUTLER & PICKERING Theodore Chuang has joined Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering as counsel in the firm’s litigation practice in its D.C. office. Chuang, 34, was most recently a former assistant U.S. attorney in the Public Corruption and Special Prosecutions Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston.
