In the Nov. 17 issue, ” On the Move” (Page 16) misspelled the name of Richard Johns and his new law firm. The firm is known as The Law Offices of Richard F. Johns. Also, in the Nov. 17 article “Leading Lawyers: Securities and Corporate Governance,” a profile of John Olsonof Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (Page 36) misidentified his law school alma mater. Olson is a graduate of Harvard Law School. In the same article, a profile of Dixie Johnsonof Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson (Page 32) incorrectly characterized Johnson’s work for client Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc. in the stock analyst investigation. Johnson was counsel of record on the 2003 global settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the New York Stock Exchange, and the National Association of Securities Dealers. The settlement requires the 10 firms and two individuals involved to pay a total of $894 million in disgorgement and penalties. None of the parties admitted or denied wrongdoing. Finally, a profile of Bruce Hilerof O’Melveny & Myers (Page 32) incorrectly reported that he represented Herbert Getz, former general counsel of Waste Management Inc., before the SEC. In fact, he represented in an SEC inquiry a different Waste Management general counsel against whom no action was taken. The corrections have been made to the Web versions of the articles.
